23.1 | Royal Viking to Bermuda? | GRANPA::JLISTON | | Thu Nov 17 1988 10:22 | 9 |
| My wife and I stopped in at our local travel agent last night, to
inquire about a cruise to Bermuda next September. The agent told
us that Royal Viking will be sailing to Bermuda next year, but he
didn't know which ship. He said that it may be a new ship or one
acquired from another line. Does anyone have any information on
this? Our other choice is the Nordic Prince, but this sails midweek.
We would rather sail on the weekend.
Thanks ... Jim

| Hi Jim,
I thought I had heard that starting in 89 NCL's new ship, Seaward,
would be making New York to Bermuda sailings. You may want to look
into that also.

| Joe, After I posted that note I called Debbi at the Ship Shop.
She told me it was NCL. She is sending me the Brochure.
I also found out that this year, the Nordic Prince is sailing on
Sunday not Wednesday. I guess that this is because the Atlantic
and Homeric won't be sailing to Bermuda.
Thanks

| According to the Sunday globe, the Royal Viking Star will begin
weekly sailings to Bermuda on April 29th after undergoing a number
of changes including a new casino and additional cabins which will
bring its capacity up to 900 persons (boo!, hiss!). This probably
means there will no longer be single seating meals and several of
the other amenities that made us love traveling with RV. However,
they probably wonu!'t be so pricey either. Hamilton will start at
$1265.

| the Royal Viking Star is being transfered to NCL (Kloster Travel)
which owns both lines and will be renamed the Norweign Star.
The R V Star is being replaced in the Pacific by the Royal Viking
Sea, and the Sea is being replaced by the new Royal Viking Sun.
The Royal Viking Sun is 36000 tons and will carry 740 passengers
which is the Royal Viking Style.
