I'm very much concerned also, since I've booked on RCCL's
Sovereign in 89 and specifically choose RCCL for the quality of
their service, food ...etc.
I certainly have nothing against Carnival and their "Fun Ship"
representation and reputation, but I, like Don, hope that type of
cruising remains with their current fleet and does not influence
the style of cruising RCCL is known for.
For those fans of Carnival, please do not take offense at the above
remark. People choose different lines for different reasons,
fortunately our tastes differ, if not we'd all be trying to get onto
the same ship, what a hassle that'd be.

| Those are my concerns too. What I like about RCCL is that they
never seem to skimp on anything. I recently took a cruise on
Regency Lines' REGENCY SEA and although we had a great time,
they seemed to cut corners in a lot of places. However, because
we only paid $1,400 total for two people, visited 5 ports, and
flew in and out of Jamaica, we certainly felt we got our money's
worth.
My parents and I are booked for the Sovereign next month. I hope
there is no impact from this merger. The RCCL and Admiral Cruise
Lines was a good partnership having sailed with both lines before,
but this new merger might be different.
I hope to be talking to my travel agent soon (JUST CRUISES in San
Francisco, CA) and will ask him what he thinks of it.

| This evening I called the travel agency I use, regarding Carnival's
purchase of 36% of RCCL. The agency is called 'The Ship Shop' and
they, as their name implies, specialize in cruise travel. I spoke
with Debbi G. the agent who handles my bookings and she assured
me that the Carnival influence would not be filtering into RCCL's
style. Talk is, RCCL's style of cruising may start rubbing
off onto Carnival. Based on my past experience with Debbi I trust
her input.
She'll keep me informed if she hears reports that RCCL starts cutting
corners or changing their style so I can make other arrangements
if I wish for the 89 cruise. I'll pass along anything I hear.
