1.3 | A simple request | KOALA::FAMULARO | Joe, ZKO3-2T43, DTN381-2565 | Wed Jan 04 1989 12:55 | 8 |
| Mr. Moderator would like to ask all participants in this conference who
enter notes and/or replies to please use both upper and lowercase
characters. It is much easier to read and unlike all uppercase it does
not give one the impression THEY ARE BEING SHOUTED AT.
I thank you.

1.8 | HOLIDAY_TRAVEL conf. info... | CAMLOT::FAMULARO | Joe, ZKO3-2T43, DTN381-2565 | Fri May 26 1989 16:10 | 7 |
| Information regarding various ports-of-call can be found in the
HOLIDAY_TRAVEL conference. The conference is directed towards land
vacations but some really interesting info is there about many of the
ports we sea goin' type call on.
To add HOLIDAY_TRAVEL to your notebook simply press the SELECT key.

1.9 | IS THE INFO ALREADY HERE? | CAMLOT::FAMULARO | Joe, ZKO3-2T43, DTN381-2565 | Wed Jul 19 1989 16:14 | 19 |
| Before entering a NEW note asking information about a ship or
port-of-call or agency...etc. please check if there is ALREADY
information about the same subject.
Notes such as "I am going on THE NORWAY can someone tell me something
about it?" are not appropriate unless the ship has never been mentioned
or the exact information you are looking for does not yet exist
in a note.
I'd like to keep the redundancy to an absolute minimum.
Search for information by title DIR/TITLE= or search by text string
SEARCH "string".
Thanks for your cooperation.

1.12 | PLEASE READ - CORP. NOTES CONF. POLICY MEMO | PULSAR::FAMULARO | Joe MS:ZKO2-2P10 DTN381-2565 | Tue Mar 20 1990 13:00 | 59 |

The problem this memo addresses has been practically nonexistent in
this notes conference. Your continued cooperation is very much
appreciated since I hate to police notes for content, I just like to
read 'em.

Over the last several months Digital has been contacted by a number of
individuals and business entities that were angry about negative
comments made about them in our Notesfiles and Conferences. As the
Personnel Policy Manager for Digital I have been the recipient of many
of those notes. I thought I should take the time to post this note to
inform employees that it is not appropriate for them to make negative
comments or references about any person or business entity in any of
Digital's employee interest notesfile or conferences.
There are several reasons why we are establishing this rule.
The first has to do with fundamental fairness. It is simply not fair
for an employee to make a negative comment about a business when we
don't provide those businesses an opportunity to respond and defend
themselves. This is particularly true given the fact that we have no
way of determining whether the comment is honest, fair, or accurate.
Clearly Digital has no intention, or desire, to open up its notesfiles
to third-party businesses so that they can engage in a debate about
whether they provide quality services. The only logical solution then
is to ask our employees to refrain from using the Notesfiles to air
grievances they have with individuals, vendors, or organizations.
In addition to our concerns about fairness, we are concerned about the
potential damage that these kinds of comments may cause to third-party
businesses. In that regard, employees should understand that they may
be personally liable if the statements they make cause harm to any
person or business. Moreover, there is some possibility Digital may be
held liable for such comments as well. Stated more simply, comments
made in a Notesfile or conference are in no way privileged or immune
from claims of liable, slander or defamation.
We are asking all of the users of Notesfiles to exercise discretion and
judgment in the comments that they make in the system. We are also
asking the moderators to go back and review the notesfiles they
moderate and to remove any notes that include derogatory references to
third-party businesses.
Please feel free to contact your moderator if you have any questions
on this subject.

1.14 | TRIP REPORT REPORTING | PULSAR::FAMULARO | Joe MS:ZKO1-1/C30 DTN381-2565 | Fri Jul 13 1990 15:45 | 21 |
| It has been suggested that a special note be created for TRIP REPORT
entries only. I hesitate to do this since more times than not
trip reports get several replies asking questions, commenting...etc.
Because of this I feel that TRIP REPORTS should be entered as a base note
in themselves.
As a suggestion. If you are entering a TRIP REPORT entitle your note
such as...
TRIP REPORT 1990 - ROYAL VIKING SUN
or
TRIP REPORT 1990 - SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS
If someone is looking for information on a particular ship, company, or
destination they'll easily find the note(s) they want by using DIR/TITLE
or SEARCH commands.
I invite your comments via mail to PULSAR::FAMULARO
