Hi, I have 4 metal kitchen chairs with vinyl seat and back cushions (not removable) that I would like to cover. I've pretty much figured out how to do the seat with just a drawstring elastic to go under the bottom. But I'm stumped on how to do the back. It doesn't go all the way down, it's just around the shoulder blade area, probably 10-12 inches deep. These are for a cottage so they don't have to be perfect, but I'd like to give them a face lift. Any ideas would be appreciated. Judy

Why not try a completely different approach and make a slipcover for the whole chair. This way you can wash them and/or change them for different seasons (the MARTHA way!). The Crate and Barrel catalog shows them for wooden folding chairs so this would give you some guidelines to follow. justme | |||||

The entire slip cover is a great idea, but if you want to spend less time/money/material, how about just slip covering the back of the chair? Make a cover - sort of like a pillow case to fit over the top of the chair back. You could add a draw string to the open end and pull it once you have it on the back of the chair? Good luck, Judie |
