607.13 | Looking for quilling supplies | SMURF::MCMILLEN | | Wed Mar 12 1997 09:38 | 7 |
| I am now (3 years later than these posts) looking for quilling
supplies. I've never done it before so I'd be looking for some easy to
follow books as well. Does anyone know where in the Burlington, Ma.
area I can purchase these??
Thanks in advance,
Judy

| I don't know about supplies since I'm not back east anymore, but I
learned how to do this about 20 or so years ago from the Time Life
Books series on crafts. They had a whole section of one of the books
devoted to this topic. The instructions were very easy to follow and
they had diagrams/patterns for things to make yourself. I still have
a butterfly I made from the book. :-) You might be able to find them
in your local library.
Local bookstores with a good craft section may have something on the
subject as well, but that's not much help since again, it's been a
long time since I've been back east and can't recommend any by name.
You'll need the paper (tiny strips cut into ~1/8: widths - used to be
sold in different colored rolls), the quilling thingamajiggy (basically
just a long metal cylinder with a handle and a notch cut into the end
of it, to stick the paper in for twisting/rolling), glue and toothpicks
(for putting the glue in small spots). That's about all I used - I've
still got all my original stuff somewhere. After the butterfly and
a few small projects I moved onto other books in the TL series and
put it aside. :-) You can also use the round toothpicks for rolling
the paper but it's a pain in the you-know-what because it keeps spinning
around the toothpick unless you pull it really tight.
Good luck finding what you need.

| Ben Franklin's (the ones that are left anyways) carries them.
Both the one in Milford, NH and Fitchburg, MA carry it.
Other than that, I mail order stuff. There's a company called Quill-It
that carries anything you could want and more for quilling.
I can find the address for you.
Also Lake City Crafts in Utah carries a lot of kits. I'll look up that
address too....
Both might be on the web but I haven't looked...
