I'm planning a bridal shower for my sister. I'm stuck on favor ideas. Her wedding is a night wedding and we are wearing black. Makes it hard to have an afternoon shower and try to coordinate the favors so they have something to do with the wedding. Earlier notes in this string mention a Mr G's for ideas. Is that place still around? Can anyone give me directions? Since I live in NH I want to make sure it'll be worth the trip. Are there any places like that in NH? In the Nashua phone book I found a listing for Special Favors in Hollis NH. Does anyone have any info on it? It only has a P.O. Box so it must be in someone's home. Does anyone know of any books I could buy at a craft store with ideas? Thanks Wendee

Mr G's is located in Leominster at the Kmart plaza off of Rt2, at the South St/Merriam Ave exit. They are a party store and do have lots of ideas for wedding favors. Even though your sister is doing a night wedding and having her attendants in black, she must have a few other colors in the flowers, go with those. Favors could be as simple as making chocolate candies and putting them in a little box wrapped with ribbons the color of her flowers. Depending on how many people are at the shower you could go to a nursery and but small african violet plants and use them on the table as centerpieces and then givem them away as favors. If you buy the small 4"pots size you can usually make a deal when buying a quantity, say $2.00 or $2.50 - x 50 people = $125. Most favors will cost you about $2.00 even if you make them. Just a couple of ideas Kathie

I was eating a Hebert's candy bar the other day. I happened to notice on the inside that it said to send away for more information about wedding favors. I did. The flyer came in just a couple of days. I thought the things they had were very reasonable. You can fill boxes with assorted chocolate/cordials, chocolate bells, jordan almonds or mint lentils. The boxes can be plain, printed, or have a bow. Prices range from $1.75-$2.50 They also have chocolate roses, bride and grooms, or regular candy bars with wedding bells printed on the wrapper. Prices range from $1.25-$2.95. There's a chocolate bride & groom cake topper for $10.00. The address is: Hebert Candies 575 Hartford Pike Shrewsbury, MA 01545 Tracie Hebert (888) HEBERTS ext 258 |
