952.0. "3 port jetdirect printserver - with ultrix and a HP2d.
" by KERNEL::COFFEYJ (La Feline Flooz - a unix cat) Mon Jun 02 1997 17:38
I have a customer who I started to explain how to
set up a printer with a jetdirect card in but as that
isn't what he had oddly enough it doesn't seem to work :-)
It turns out he has a bit of kit I've not come across before:
he has a three port jetdirect card printserver.
From what I can work out it will probably work if he sets it
up like a HPLJ4+ is set up for network printing replacing the
9100 port number with the number of the port on the printserver,
that the HP2d is on - which unfortunately we have no ideas at.
But he's calling the supplier for port numbers, ....if the
printserver has them that is :-)
I know that Ultrix didn't/doesn't support any 3rd party printers
so he's on the unsupported train before the porter even blew his
whistle, but I'm curious if anyone else has set these things up
on Ultrix or digital Unix and if they're supported or work (yup I
know these are 2 very different things) anywhere.
