I have a customer with an dec3000 model 400 (sandpiper) and he wants to connect an NEC silentwriter Postscript printer either serially or parallel...He is using the Synchronous Comm Port and is told this works for both parallel and serial...We have tried with no success to do either using devices lp0 tty01 tty02 etc... the trick with cat'ing a file to the device seems to work but there is no output on the printer... Should he beusing the alternate console printer port instead?...I will take any kind of help possible ...This seems like a really straight forward thing that's not that way at all.. leo

The 1760 and the 1765 printers do not provide a serial interface according to the NEC WEB page. The sandpiper dec3000-400 only provides serial ports no parallel ports. If you are using one of these printers you have a connection issue. |
