756.7instructions for using LAT on an LN17SMURF::GRAHAMWed Feb 05 1997 20:0620

    I've got the LN17 ps with the NIC card. Can't seem to get LAT working
    from ANY platform VMS or UNIX or Ultrix. There is no communication
    whatsoever. VMS gets "printer not ready", unix/ultrix gets "waiting
    for printer to come online" etc...

    I can use VMS via ncp to connect to the console utility via the
    hardware address, so its on the net and reachable.

    I've double checked the "so called" Service Name and port info, its
    all set correctly and matches the printcap or dcps entry.

    I haven't done any "install" from the provided software because tcp/ip
    is NOT an option for me. There was no indication that anything had to
    be "setup" for the LAT protocal to be used. Is there?

    Thanks for any help...

    I've got the group code on the ln17 at 0 , which I've beentold is to
    allow all groups. It was the defualt so I didn't actually change it.
    The group codes as far the the systems are set to what all other
    printers use in the same enviormwnt as this ln17.

    I'm using the Service name DNE106802 and PORT_1 (all caps). Have tried
    many variations on this as well.
