2079.1 | my three choices (for you)!! | MKOTS3::tcc051.mko.dec.com::CORRIGAN | | Wed May 01 1996 10:55 | 13 |
|
3-wood (easier to hit off fairway, no great loss off tee)
6-iron (more distance than 8, can use it to chip just as well)
sand wedge (just in case!!!)
but you're playing for second place, as Sara is going to take it
all!!!
have fun and don't be surprised if you shoot just as good if not
better than you do with your whole bag!!!

2079.2 | depends on track | STOWOA::tavo.ogo.dec.com::ODIAZ | Octavio Diaz | Wed May 01 1996 11:00 | 15 |
| I guess it would depend in the kind of track it be played
If it's longish and wide, I would trade the eight iron for a 5 or 6 from
your selection. If it is shortish and tight, I would think of taking 3
wood, 7 or 8, P or S wedge and putter
But the last 3 club tourney I've played counted the putter (at Butternut
which is shortish and tight), so it was 3W, 8 iron and putter (if I recall
correctly)
The wierd part of it is that I ended up surprised on how close my score
was with three clubs vs. 14 clubs.

Best round of nine holes I ever had at Stow Acres (south back)
was a 38 in a 3 club tournament. Used a 3 wood, 6 iron, 9 iron
and a putter.
good luck !

2079.4 | Is it really help? | SCAMP::MCCRACKEN | | Wed May 01 1996 12:01 | 8 |
| Joe,
So those are your choices for me. The clubs mentioned are certainly
appropriate for the reasons mentioned. But....I'm not sure if I
should take your advice, not sure if you are sincere in helping me,
sounds like you might be working on Sara's opposition!!!!

| Is this an NCC notes file ?? Just kidding:)
My cut at three clubs is 5 iron, wedge and putter. Should be able to
reach all the holes in regulation with chipping potential.
We should have a DEC Day to define a local winner.

| Leo,
Set it up, I'm ready! You may have to remind me not to sweep though.
You non-curlers (winter sport we play on ice) won't understand this
sorry.

| Hmmmm. I've played in some 3-clubs where you could use any three
you wanted and I went with 3W, 3 iron and 8 iron. Used the 3 iron to
putt since my putting is horrible anyways...
Last year I used 3 iron, 8 iron and putter...
