2072.0. "CONGRATS BOB BELLIVEAU! " by BRAT::LEARY (Say it ain't snow!) Tue Mar 19 1996 12:28

It once again is my esteemed pleasure to have another hole-in-one
announcement to make. A little tardy but I remember it like
it just happened today. Bob has been a golfer for over 30 years
and I would imagine has threatened many a pin...he actually
banged one the day before his ace. It really was a thing of
beauty and much deserved...he kicked our butts all week.

We were playing a replay at Sandpiper Bay in Myrtle on March 3rd
and were running out of sunlight. So at #15 Bob announces that
this is the last hole and that since the match was tied that this
would be the deciding hole. Bob had honors and proceeds to send
a nice high drawing lefty 8 iron into a back pin...no more than 6 foot
of release and PING, we couldn't see the ball anymore. I was
convinced it was in and started the celebration but Bob needed
more convincing. I don't think it really sunk in until he pulled
the Titleist out of the hole.

Here's the kicker though...The first round of the day at Sandpiper
there was a Diabetes Research Fund-raiser promotion going on at
the very same hole. The guy running the promo said it was playing
154 yds...a bit downhill, $5.00 to play, hit the green and get sleeve
of Nitro's (I was the only Nitro owner for a 4 foot birdie), an ace
got you $1000.00 and an invite to Vegas for a $MILLION$ opportunity
for another ace. Of course the promo had cleared out by 6 PM on our
replay...the club pro thought that we were trying to claim the $K
when Bob went in to the proshop to register his uno. But Bob did
get a nice trophy that holds the ball and a free dinner at Wild Wing
from the Chamber of Commerce...the lady at the C of C said they see
4 or 5 golfers a day registering aces.

Bill Flannery of note 1772.0 fame and Shawn Fisher were the other
witnesses. Although Bill, myself and our wallets would have preferred
if Shawn had slept in that morning instead of the next. I drank some
of it back at TDH though...Thanks Bob. Nice dedication too!

Bob, I don't know you but if you play with Leary and Flannery
you deserve something good happening to you. Congratulations!
