2065.0. "Golf in Puerto Plata (Dominican Republic)" by LUDWIG::SZEWCZYK () Wed Feb 14 1996 05:10

    Hi Folks,,,,

I was wondering if anyone has ever Golfed at the Robert Trent Jones
Jr Designed course in Puerto Plata. ( Dominican Republic )

I heard the Price is resonable for resort golf. About 35 U.S.dollars.
I;m going there in about a month and would appreciate any info
      about it.
                                         Thanks
                                                   ,,,,,,,Vic

I have friends who stayed at the Jack Tar All-Inclusive Resort at
Puerto Plata and they said it was a better then average course. Also,
if by chance your staying at the Jack Tar Resort the golf (less cart
rental) should be included in your package.

As far as conditions off the resort, the Cancun and Cozemul areas
are like paradise compared to the Dominican Republic.

I went to the Jack Tar village in the Domican Republic about 7 years
ago, and the golf course, while a nice layout, was very dry, of
course this was in August. We tipped our caddies wver 20 dollars
american, and you'd think we just saved their lives, they were very
	appreciative and helpful.

Arriving at the airport and traveling to the resort was trumatic, what
with the armed military and all, once inside the resort its like
entering another world, one of happiness and plenty, very differnt
from the real world of most Domicans....

Just to correct some typos. It's not Domican, it's Dominican. I'm
from the next island to the east, Puerto Rico. Enjoy your golf.
