2060.0. "Any "Digital Golf ..." bodies anywhere?" by RTOEU::CUNGUREANU (CHRISTIAN UNGUREANU @RTO) Tue Jan 23 1996 10:09

    Would anybody be so kind and help me with the following question:
        Is there a "Digital Golf Club" or "league" or similar in any
        subsidiary or Digital location?

    A few years ago, in 1991, a bunch of golf enthousiasts in the german
    Digital subsidiary have founded a "Digital Golf Club". I personally
    joined in 1993, after coming back from the U.S.
    The "Club" is nothing special, a few friends (digital employees) playing
    together but also against other companies (BMW, European Patent Office,
    etc.) some five or six tournaments a year.
    Our company (Digital) has cut the small financial support
    ($3 per month per head) that was provided to all Digital sports-groups
    in Germany in 1994. No problem. Since then, we are playing (and funding
    small expenses like Digital-logo balls, etc.) ourselves. We have put
    all this (association name, contributions, list of members) in writing.

    A few days ago the local Digital management informed us that usage of
    the brand-name "Digital" for our association is not allowed
    any more, i.e. we shall not call ourselves "Digital Golf Club" nor
    should we appear as "Digital-team" in competitions with other
    companies, as the company does not support this association any more.

    Of course we will continue to enjoy the ups and downs of the game no
    matter what name the association has, but there's no way to play e.g.
    the "Munich Corporations Cup" (a team event that we won twice) as the
    "six-happy-golfers-team".

    All this may appear somewhat strange and unnecessary - it is.
    Anyway, is there any "Digital Golf something" somewhere else?

    any information will be highly appreciated
    regards
    Christian

	Don't know how the management would like that one! Our league in
central Massachusetts is called the Maynard Golf League but checks for the
membership are made out to the "DEC Maynard Golf League". Check the notesfile
at FUNIES::MGL.
