Definitely play Painted Desert and the TPC at Summerlin, both are great
courses and will require every club in your bag. TPC in the early
morning when the dew is "melting" and the desert starts to "wake up"
will really start your day. I love that course.
Greens fees are expensive in Vegas during the "season" (that's from
Dec-Mar) and carts are required; but what the hey, you only live once.
Tell us what you played and what you liked the best. Forget Desert Inn.
It's very expensive ($150) and the fairways aren't that great. Mostly
snob appeal I think. But do TPC, you will NOT be sorry.

| I am not sure if this helps, but Jim Colbert has a course down there as
well. It was also the site of the PGA Seniors Championship last year.
Not really expensive either (approx. $ 40). Sorry, can't remember the
name though ??

1992.4 | Here's my 2-cents worth! | VEGAS::GURALNIK | o 22 o | Mon Feb 27 1995 15:07 | 44 |
| Since I live in Vegas, I'll catch you up.
First things first... All (except the too busy, lousy condition city courses)
golf in Vegas is really expensive unless you happen to have a "card" from one of
the associations here.
These 3 are American Golf Clubs... they have a membership.
Painted Desert $90. Great target course. Hope the wind doesn't blow. Played
there yesterday as a matter-of-fact. But it is way North-West of town.
Hilton Country Club (formerly the Sahara) $125. Good course. The PGA plays
here during the Las Vegas Invitational. Lots of water. Center of town... 10
minutes from the strip.
Wildhorse Country Club $90. Formerly the Royal Kenfield course. Nice layout.
Can be easy if not much wind, but its been known to play tough.
----
Legacy (~ $100) Nice track... not real difficult but usually in excellent
shape.
Angel Park Mountain Course (~$100) - Nice layout... play this one, not the Palm.
Angel Park Palm Course (~$100) - Short... used to be good, but they added a Par
3 course and ruined it.
----
TPC Summerlin is a great place to play if you can, but it requires that a Member
make your tee-time. About $100 if you play without a member, cheaper if you do.
THe Jim Colbert course is called Sunrise. They have a North and South course.
FVery easy, but it is private and you have to play with a member.
Desert Inn is too expensive, but I'd play it if it was gratis (or cheaper).
-----
The order I'd play is
1. TPC (if possible)
2. Painted Desert
3. Legacy
4. Angel Park Mountain
5. Hilton
6. Wildhorse
7. Angel Park Palm

| Ken,
From what I remember the taxi ride to Painted Desert is 30-45 minutes.
Does that sound about right? It was well worth the ride/time/money!!!
I'll be in Vegas in June, what temperatures should I expect?

| Ken,
Hot....110!!!??? Actually I love the heat, I play better that way.
I guess the heat slows me down. Last year I played in a 3 day club
championship, one of the days was the hottest, most humid day of the
summer, I walked while my opponent rode, not only did I beat her but
shot my best round ever. My goal last summer was to break 90, I shot
an 88. Winning that match ment a lot to me but shooting 88 made it
even better.
Hope the courses keep the beverage carts coming!!!!!!!!!!

| Spent six days in Vegas, golfed for four. Played Painted Desert,
Las Vegas Hilton and Legacy. I was thrilled to play Painted Desert
again (this trip was my husband's first time to Vegas). Then we
played Las Vegas Hilton. I played there two days in a row, my
husband played only once. The last day was at Legacy. We had
a tee time for Wild Horse but when we got there we heard that they
were changing all their greens, had temporary ones and you could only
play nine of the 18 holes. Of the four days I golfed the temperature
high was 106 and the low 102. Saw the beverage cart at least four
times during each round which was very nice. Enjoyed each course
but Painted Desert is still my favorite.
