| There are many good public and private courses in the area. The best public
courses are STOW ACRES in Stow, SADDLE HILL in Hopkinton, and JUNIPER HILLS
in Northboro. Also, Marlboro Country Club is semi-private; they allow the
public to play on certain days and times. Let me know if you want to know
more about these courses.
As for private courses, there is Marlboro (semi-private). I don't know the
exact cost or if there is a waiting list, but my guess is that the price is
quite reasonable. Probably the best private course that one could get into
is Framingham Country Club. It costs about $8500 to get in, then about $3300
per year. Again, let me know if you want more inforation Framingham.
Other private courses incluce Pleasant Vally, home of the PGA tour stop. It is
in Sutton, Mass (south of Worcester) and the costs are a little more the
Framingham. However, it's about a 35 minute ride.
If you really have the big bucks to spend, I could recommend a few more
private courses.

1972.2 | Cheap membership fee | FOUNDR::KELLEY | | Mon Jan 02 1995 19:55 | 5 |

Thanks for the info, I am familiar with Stow (no memberships)
To be more precise about what I am looking for. I am looking
for a course with a reasonable (read that cheap) membership fee.

1972.3 | Marlboro is private | MSBCS::GALVIN | R.T. Galvin, PKO2 223-2625 | Tue Jan 03 1995 09:02 | 5 |
| I think Marlboro went full private this past year. If I am not
mistaken, the yearly fee is ~$1,500, and there is a 5 year waiting
list.

| Pat,
I am assuming you're looking for private clubs, otherwise at Stow
Acres you can get a season pass for ~$1,800, unlimited golf any day,
advanced tee times. I believe they also have a weekday season pass,
but I don't know details, But you still have the long rounds due to
high traffic.
As for privates go, You could also look at Sterling CC, closer than
PV. Initially initiation fee was ~$7K. BTW, in Marlboro CC they
have at least two types of members, full and half?, the latter can't
play on weekends before noon or 1 PM, but any time on weekdays.
If you are not in a hurry, hopefully one day they'll finish
Wedgewood, also in Stow and said initally that it would be private.
Layout is done, but I guess they ran out of money, because there has
not been any activity there for this past year.

| Pat,
I'm not sure what you mean by "inexpensive," but I think Sterling is a
bargain, and I may be able to help you make it an even better bargain.
It's a top-notch course in great condition, but it can be kinda rough on
newcomers to the game (I don't know how good at it you are).
Send me MAIL if you're interested (or anyone else, for that matter).
Good luck,
Tom
