Calcavechia is complaing about hotel costs, he says it cost 100.00 for
a meal so that takes the enjoymet out of it.
He played in a Pro Am in Sweden so he will break even on the trip it
will cost him 7k for the deal.
He has 2 houses one worth 2million and 7 cars Porche, Lotus that type
of thing by his own admission.
He allegedly says the costs are getting too high to attend.
How about the noters having a whip round a few pounds in each to
subidise the less fortunate international Major winning golfers,
they are a worthy cause perhaps we could fix a charity game for him.

PS. I do hope the weather is not too bad i dont suppose Mark can afford
an umbrella

it's always expensive if your NOT winning...so maybe he should play
some golf instead of complaining...

1919.3 | Skint golfers unite | PEKING::ANTELLJ | | Wed Jul 13 1994 07:02 | 12 |
| The guy is a world star with sponsership and millions in prize money,
7 expensive cars 2 houses one worth 2 mill, he can not be serious.
Some golfers are only interested in making money grinding out on the
tour picking up cheques, others want to win majors and be world stars
he should make his mind up i dont believe he has been dragged over hee
screaming!
Maybe its just paper talk, on that note Alliss has not had a go at
Faldo thats always good for a laff.
Langer he is my tip

| Papers are saying it's been raining the last few days at Turnbery
and players are shooting at the green as if it's a dartboard. Not the
typical type of shot required at the open... If the fairways soften
up too, I guess nobody will get to see any 400 yard drives by Daly
as he does his Energizer bunny shot off the tee:
It keeps going, and going, and going...

I was down Turnberry yesterday for the final practise day, the course
is in great condition although the greens may dry out quickly as the
hot weather hits them. There should be a lot of low scoring as there
is hardly any wind to talk about.
Followed Nicklaus and Watson for a few holes in their match against
Price and Norman. Watson is striking the ball very well and if he can
start holing the putts he won't be far away on Sunday.

He's certainly a lot smaller than expected although that's probably
because we expect him to be "big/heavy" given the distances he hits
the ball. As he was standing about in the rain for a while watching
guys in a driving contest he looked a bit fed up. However, once he
went into his routine he seemed quite pleasant, answering questions
from the crowd etc. He was knocking 7-irons down the fairway when
a 10-year old from the crowd asked for a shot. Daly invited the boy
over, gave him the club and told him to fire away. When he got down
to the serious stuff ie the driver, he invited the same boy to have
a bash first.
Yesterday at Turnberry he played with Colin Montgomerie and didn't
seem too bothered by all the autograph hunters chasing after him
between green and tee.
