| I'd certainly recommend sending away for the free MB planner that
is listed in Golf Digest. I think there is a 800 number that you can
call and have it sent also. It will list numerous places that should
fit the bill. It's been about 5 years since I was down there last so
I can't give and idea on the prices. For night time you may want to
head to the Doll House for a gentleman's evening of entertainment...

Hey Steve,
You lucky Devil! It is a good idea to get the Myrtle Beach Golf
planner, it is a nice magazine that provides a heck of a lot of Info.
regarding places to stay and places to play. I stayed at the Ocean
Forest Condos last time I was there and the Unit that I rented slept 6.
What was nice is that these units offered kitchens so that you could
whip up your own food quick and easy. Also the Ocean Forest units are
part of the Sands Resort Hotels and they offer a Super buffet style
breakfast (free with stay) from 6:00 to 10:00 each morning.
Places that I played and really enjoyed:
- Blackmoor (Gary Player Signature)
- Marsh Harbour
- Indian Wells
- Buck Creek
Check out the happy hours that go on down there so you can get some
good "Cheap Eats" and concentrate more on the Golf!

Phone number for the Free Golf Holiday brochure 1-800-845-4653
Have Fun!

8 of us are going down in about a month, too. We are staying at Sea
Trails, they have condos for 8, and 3 golf courses (Rees Jones, Dan?
Maples, ? Byrd), so 2 days we're staying there to play, too (one
course gets played twice). I'm using frequent flyer miles, but some
of the others have been able to get air fare for $150 round trip, if
you stay over a Saturday night.
Various permutaions of this group have been going down every year for
about 10 years. Some of the favorite courses include:
Heather Glen
Heritage Plantation
Marsh Harbor
I've only been once before, if you want more info I can point you to
the person who "coordinates" our trip.

1831.5 | PAWLEYS ISLAND | AIMHI::MAKI | | Fri Jan 28 1994 11:21 | 5 |
| Check out some of the "night" spots around the Pawleys
Island area. It's right close to Heritage Gardens,
which is an excellent course to play. Pawleys has raw
bar places, cajun cookin' restaurants, and just about all
types of cuisine. Enjoy, and hit em straight.

1831.6 | $150 round trip ?? | CTHQ::SCARBER | | Mon Jan 31 1994 12:54 | 8 |
| I'm going down in March as well and was resigned to drive. I'd like to
hear what airline has a $150 round trip to Myrtle Beach. Is that from
Boston? Thanks. It's my first tripp down as well so I'd appreciate any
tips here as well as the original author.
Thanks.

1831.8 | Prices for March 1994 | MKOTS1::FOX_A | | Fri Feb 11 1994 23:56 | 9 |
| Eight of us are flying down week of March 5th. It is costing $56 per
night including a round of golf and a cart. The rooms have a kitchen
and are dbl occupancy. Courses offered are limited but I've played some
of them before and they are quality courses.
One of our group is not using free tickets and it cost about $150 from
Boston but those fares are limited.
The place we are staying is called Carolina Summer Sands.

As I said in a previous note, 8 of us are headed to Myrtle Beach next
week for golf. Two of us are arriving a day earlier (Sunday), and
our condo isn't available until Monday. Does anyone have suggestions
for a moderate but clean/safe/decent place to stay on Sunday night.
I was thinking of one of the hundreds of motels along Ocean Blvd.,
but in the planner book they all look the same. Anyone have any
suggestions????

| Andy, I will be going to MB in May with some 40 Decies from the
Greenbelt area. I was able to secure a $150 round trip air fair
from Boston, however I need to stay over an extra day. Have you
been able to locate a (clean, reasonably priced) place to stay
for your extra night?

1831.13 | Myrtle Beach Report | LJSRV2::EARLY | Steve Early - DTN 226-2758 | Tue Apr 05 1994 11:47 | 39 |
| My brother and I just got back from MB. We had a blast. Didn't
hit the ball very well, but what the heck.
I worked through a travel agent in my home town to put a package
together. She got us a round trip plane ticket, 4 nights accomodations
at a very nice condo (Radison - Kingston Plantation), a rental car, and
2 rounds of golf (we got to pick from a pretty long list of courses) for
about $750 per person. I thought that was a pretty good deal.
Courses we played for "free" as part of our package were:
Island Green
Beachwood
I liked both of these courses, although we had more fun with Island
Green.
On our own, we went out and played at Wild Wing on the Avocet Course
(they have three 18 hole courses on the property). This place was
awesome. Each golf cart has its own supply of ice water, ball cleaner,
and club cleaner. Yardage is marked every 25 yards on the side of the
fairway in addition to on the sprinkler heads. It was the first time
I ever had a starter hand me a score card and a computer generated map
of the greens. "Good morning gentlement - here are today's pin
placements on the greens."
It normally costs about $100 to play there, but we ran into someone who
told us that they have afternoon specials quite frequently at this
course. We got on for $42, which I thought was a pretty good deal
considering the type of course it was ... challenging to say the very
least.
We both agreed that we'd go back to MB to play golf - probably will
too.
