1825.0. "Information Please...Blades vs Cavity backed irons" by FAIR08::DUNNING () Wed Jan 19 1994 14:42

    I've scanned this conference quite thoroughly looking for a topic
    that provides a thorough discussion of "Perimeter weighted cavity
    backed irons" VS "Tour Blades".
    I am "Toying" with the idea of trying a set of tour blade irons and
    I'd like to get as much information as possible before I make a
    decision.
    Any input would be greatly appreciated.

                                                        Thanks
                                                               Mark

    P.S. Brand names of tour blade manufacturers would be helpful.

1825.2Staff's are goodCSOA1::RANKINWed Jan 19 1994 19:204
    Some of the best blades that have been made are the Wilson Staff's. You
    can probably even find a nice used set for a real bargain!

    Thanks for the "pointer" to those notes, very informative but I never
    would have guessed the contents of those notes by the title.

    Experience is the best teacher.......soooo I'll just have to mosey on
    down to the local Nevada Bob's and see if they have any demo tour
    blades that I can whack in there hitting cage.

                                                Thanks  Mark

    P.S. Any other manufacturer recommendations would be helpful..

1825.5Perimeter weighted Forged bladeCAPNET::EHSThu Jan 20 1994 13:4325

    Hello,

    I recently picked up some cavity back forged blades from what used
    to be Nevada Bob's (9 or 10 stores are now called Pat Riley's Golf)
    up in Nashua, NH. These irons are Macgregor VIP's which used to be
    the Jack Nicklaus signature (excluding the Muirfield) iron when he was
    associated with MacGregor. Pat Riley bought out Nicklaus RD irons from
    MacGregor and has been selling them with a different stamp on the
    backside of the cavity. These irons are nice for the person who wants
    the forgiveness of the perimeter weighted clubs but would like the
    softer feel that a forged blade has to offer. I think these clubs are
    super! I also purchased some TPS advanced closeout irons which are
    great clubs as well! These offer no offset in a perimeter weighted
    cast club with TT S300 and R200 shafts. These irons were picked up in
    Nashua also. $249.00 for each set is a super bargain!

    Note: If you do decide to venture to NH (Pat Riley's Golf) make sure
    	  you call First to see if they still have the irons. (603) 595 -8711
    	  Tell them Ed sent you.

    	Good Luck,

    re .4 .5 .6

    Thanks folks you have provided more than enough info for me to start
    this experiment..
    As far as "venturing into N.H." I live in N.H. (Windham) Soooo I can
    go by either Nashua or Salem.

    In case you haven't figured it out yet, I am a very sick person with
    a serious addiction.

    I'll let you know what I think as spring approaches..

                                                   Thanks again

Mark,

Are you by any chance left handed? I have a set of Wilson Staff (3-PW)
that I want to sell. They are in playable conditions, a $100 and you can
have them. (Or anyone else for that matter)
