1817.0. "Cobra Irons? (Will I play like Greg, too?)" by KOALA::DEFELICE () Fri Jan 07 1994 10:48

    For some reason I cannot explain, whenever I enter a pro or golf shop I
    am drawn towards the Cobra oversize irons. Never hit them, but they do
    seem to provoke a visceral feeling whenever I pick them up.

    Anyone have any experience with playing these irons? Are they forged?
    I'm quite sure that my Eye-2's are going to be sold before the spring
    and I'm in the market for a great replacement. (Don't get any good
    vibes when I pick up the Zings at all. Don't get any when hitting
    'em either...)

    P.S. The Eye-2's are still on the market. Full set (rd) 2-SW, orange
    dot, Tour Wrap Cord grips. Very, very good condition.

1817.2"The King (cobra) and I" did not WorkCAPNET::EHSFri Jan 07 1994 13:3817

    I have hit the King Cobra Oversized irons and I personally dont like
    them. I have recently seen some used King Cobras and they were showing
    signs of corrosion (rust) on the back side (cavity) these irons are
    cast, but Cobra does offer a forged iron which is what Greg Norman
    has used in the past. I am not sure if he still is swinging with those
    irons. I know he hits the King Cobra Oversized Driver 9 degree loft. I
    also tried this driver and it failed to impress me. I guess the Cobra
    club is not for me, however I have heard some good reports on the club
    and the confidence it brings to certain players!

    BTW - Ping Eye II's I feel are super clubs and I certainly appreciate
    	  them much more than the Zing's.

    Thanks for the info. Yes, I would much rather stay with my Eye-II's
    than go with the Zings. Just a personal thing, I guess...

    	Check out Heavy Hitters in Windham, they have clones of the
    following: Ping Eye2, TA845's, King Cobras, Titleist DCI's,
    Ping Zing and others...
1817.6Oversized Tommy Aarron clubsCAPNET::EHSFri Feb 25 1994 09:1015
    Pat Riley's Golf (Peviously Nevada Bob's) in Nashua, NH has just
    started selling a Tommy Aarron Oversized Iron. I hit a few balls with
    the 7 and 4 Iron, and was really impressed with the look and feel. The
    price was very good also, I believe they were selling for 289.99
    (3-PW).

    Good deal if your into the oversized irons that that are certainly
    proliferating!

    Tell them Ed sent you.

1817.7Looking for the "King Snake"...WLW::TURCOTTEThank goodness for every wrong moveTue Feb 14 1995 14:0816
	I ran across a club maker locally (cincinnati) that has a King Cobra
	knockoff called the King Snake, I hit the clubs and they feel and
	perform great.

	He wants about $280 for the set 3-pw with True Temper shafts, and
	will fit the clubs etc. Since I've been looking to buy, and Cobras
	were high on the list, I know this is a great price, and honestly
	you cannot tell the heads apart.

	My question is, where can I get the heads only, and assemble the the
	clubs myself, Golfsmith has the O/S Project, which don't really have
	the look of the Cobras, has anyone seen the "King Snake" head, or
	know how I can get it.

	Thanks Steve T.
1817.8KK Golf....WLW::TURCOTTEThere I was, There I was....Wed Feb 15 1995 14:529

	I recieved some mail off line about the company that manufactures
	the "King Snake" head, the company name is KK Golf, they have
	several heads to choose from.

	I called them at 1-800-597-6518, they are mailing me a catalog.

1817.9My new clubs are comming.....WLW::TURCOTTELight MockeryFri Mar 03 1995 13:5622
	As an update, I received the KK Golf catalog, they have knockoffs of
	Tommy Amour 845,855; Ping Eye2,Zing; Cleveland VAS, Titilest DCI as
	well as the Cobra (They have the "Snake" and the Viper")

	They offered a set (3-pw) of the King Snakes with TT Lite shafts, and
	Tour Wrap Grips for 159.99

	I went and ordered the Snakes with Dynalite Shafts and added a SW and
	the deleviered price is 189.00, They sell the just the heads for
	8.50/ea most of the others listed above are 7.50/ea with assembled
	sets for 159.99.

	They also have Woods (Ping and BB knockoffs, as well as Cobra) they
	sell shafts, grips, bags, and some other stuff. Located in SC.

	I should get my set 3-SW a week from today, I had the added confidence
	of being able to hit these clubs from the clubmaker in the previous note
	before buying, so I know what I'm getting, and I get to save about
	120.00 bucks in the process.
