I'm currently looking at a set of Wilson "Aviator" clubs. Does anyone have any experience with these ? What about US prices ?? Locally (Australia !) the Aviator steels (9-irons+3-woods) are $650 (~$US435), and there's a set of graphite gold-shafted ones for $1000 (~$US670). Clubs are expensive here ! I suspect there's a heavy sales-tax component in Australia, as there is with most everything else ...:-( !! Wilson seem to make a huge range of different models. Does anyone have a comprehensive catalogue ?? I've also seen "Ultra's" and "Sam Snead"'s. I'm curious as to where they position in the range. Thanks, Peter.

I bought the ULTRA's nearly one year ago. Terriffic clubs. These clubs priced between (around)$800 and $1500. I got them cheaper at Nth Ryde golf club. I had them fitted with extra length and the grip thicker but had to wait nearly a month. I guess you can still have a hit with them as the pro gave me a five iron and three wood to try. Oh this price was for the metal firestick shafts. Good shopping, Luke | |||||
1810.2 | I like the Powerbilt TPS's ... | GUNADO::SMITHP | Beware the knights who say "NT"... | Mon Dec 06 1993 19:58 | 24 |
Hmmm... I visited a golf expo recently, and was able to check out the latest from many manufacturer's. PGF, Brosnan, Cobra, Calloway, Kennex, Tommy Armour, Titleist etc. Unfortunately, Wilson was not represented at the show. The clubs I liked the most were the Powerbilt TPS, but at $A1500/set for steels and $A2200- for graphite; they are definitely not cheap. They did have a beautiful feel and seemed well balanced for my style (although not my budget !!). Although I was only able to swing them in the nets, I seemed to be making good contact. What do the Powerbilt TPS's sell for in the States ?? Club and shaft specifications are becoming very complicated ! I'll check out a number of pro shops and get some expert advice on the best clubs for my swing and a chance to take a demo set out for a round or two. I'll then probably take the consensus of opinion and start checking out the second-hand pages !! Thanks, Peter. |
