I sometimes forget that one's golf game is not fixed or constant, but changes
naturally over time. Watching the lads on TV, it's often hard for me to
remember that they work very hard, often with little or no success.
A recent Golf World had an article about John Inman winning the Southern Open,
mentioning he hadn't won since 1987. The article also included an insert
showing the players with the longest gap between their first and second
victory (since 1970).
I was shocked to see that the 4th longest wait, 7 years and 8 months, belonged
to...
Well, let's just say someone I have a hard time imagining ever struggling...
Any guesses? (for those of you who didn't read it)
Also, I've come to enjoy reading the "box scores" where they list the entire
result of the tournament, including those who don't make the cut. For instance,
in the Southern Open Robert Wrenn shot 82 in the first round. Two years ago
he was -27 or something and almost set the all-time scoring record.
I guess patience *is* important.
