1789.0. "IRELAND- GOLF RESERVATION SYSTEM PROPOSAL" by MACNAS::D_HICKEY () Tue Oct 12 1993 06:13

As I am leaving DEC soon, on compulsory redundancy, I would like your
views as to the potential of the following business venture.

I am planning to establish a golf marketing network, which would allow
visitors to Ireland to reserve tee-time at the course of their choice
    on the network.
A network of PC's at the courses will be linked to a server which will
be accessible by the network of clients. Courses can be reviewed, text
only at first, and available tee-time reserved.
Method of payment not finalised, approx. 10% of cost of playing.

I am not soliciting here but am keen to get views as to whether golfers
who travel would find the service useful.
The big trick is the development of a focussed network of clients who
a)travel, b)play golf when they travel, and c) Use internet.
My first pass at this will be to bulletin into large Internet networks.

I would welcome views as to usefulness or otherwise and any other
impressions regarding operation of service, or snags relating to it.

    Donal,

I would certainly be interested, however, I don't travel at all. If I
ever did plan to go to Ireland, I would be interested in
    knowing what you would offer.

I would be interested in using such a network facility. Let me know
if you go forward with your idea.
