| I hit the metal shaft ("Memphis 10") version, and even for a lousy
fairway wood player like me, it was like stealing! Super easy to
hit, and, IMO, nearly everyone should have one. I don't own any other
Callaway clubs - tried 'em - didn't like 'em...

| "Memphis 10"? Is that a clone? My fairway woods are usually a strong
part of my game, my long irons are not. This sounds like an
interesting club for those difficult in-between shots for me. Can you
give me more info. (Interesting, I don't care for Callaway clubs
either.)

| I recently bought the Big Berth , it took me a while to
get used to it, it hits the ball higher than other drivers
10 degree loft.
I must say its a very easy club to use, the head is very much like
the Ping clubs.
It can also be used off the fairway unlike normal drivers it has not
got a flat sole, you can grip down the shaft and it saves carrying
a 3 wood.
Its a club that takes some getting used too but i think it will
help most club golfers.

| The Memphis 10 shaft supposedly gets firmer the more clubhead speed you
generate. I'm no physicist, and I don't understand how one shaft can
accommodate a variety of speeds ("how do it know...), but then again,
Ping only uses one shaft (Stiff). Normally a Dynamic S300 feels good to
me, and the Memphis 10 feels good.

| Is the "heaven wood" the same as their 7 wood? If not, what's the
difference?

| The seven wood is the heavan wood, its just a sales name to
get it known.
It seems to work!!!!!!!!!
Hit it high land it soft, thats what Johny Miller says so it must work.
Do any Pros use the Heaven wood ?

| Seems like the Heaven wood has a slightly bigger head, and is longer
than
the regular 7 wood.

Info I have on the Heaven wood is that it has about a six wood
loft with the headweight for a four wood allowing a four wood length
shaft. Golfworks and Dynacraft make clone like copies. The
Golfworks version is called the Breakout. The Dynacraft version
is called the Machete. Bottom design on all three targeted at
getting thru heavy cover. I have a Breakout in an Aldila..works fine.
The aftermarkets can be assembled for about $50-$75 bucks depending
on your shaft choice.

1771.10 | What do you use this club for again? | KOALA::DEFELICE | | Wed Sep 01 1993 11:39 | 7 |
| As Ricky Ricardo once said, "'Splain to me, Lucy..." Maybe I'm a bit
thick about the purpose of this club... Would some kind soul mind
explaining, again, what the uses are for this club. Sounds like an
all-purpose 7 wood to me...
Thanks,
Bob

1771.11 | Heaven vs. Seven vs. Machetti | CSOA1::RANKIN | | Wed Sep 01 1993 12:19 | 10 |
| I have looked at the heaven wood. It is "real" similar to the Calloway
7 wood except it has the 4 wood shaft. I have the 7 wood. Like it a
lot. the Macheti from Dynacraft is not a clone of the heavenwood. I
have built several of them for folks and it is more like the Raylor
from Taylor.
I think the reason for the longer shaft is to get the additional club
head speed for the extra 10 - 15 yards with the heavenwood.

The Heaven Wood head is exactly the same as 7-Wood, the only difference
is the shalf is an inch longer - for longer distance (by theory).
I have 7-wood and love it.

I have tried the Callaway 7 wood and the Heaven wood. From my
expierience the 7 wood trajectory was a bit higher than the
Heaven wood, but the Heaven wood seemed to have a lower kickoint
shaft. I also found that it was easier to choke down and
make the Heaven wood act like a shorter club. Both Callaway shafts
were metal....not sure what type, was just told both were regular
flex.
I decided to go with a Dynacraft Callaway like clone for the
and to put in a lightweight low kickpoint graphite shaft. For
my game style this club replaces the 2, 3, & 4 iron making my
bag carry much lighter.

1771.16 | The Heaven Wood is heaven... | KOALA::DEFELICE | | Tue Apr 19 1994 10:47 | 27 |
| I bought a new set of irons this year (3-SW) and decided to pick up a
Heaven wood (metal) instead of carrying around a 2 iron that I used to
hit once or twice a round.
Anyway, I optioned for the new Callaway Big Bertha Heaven (7), with the
War Bird sole plate. (Honest, the club is marked both Heaven and 7) I
don't think there is much difference in this club since last year,
except it may be a bit shorter. Now, there's a 7-wood, Heaven wood,
and Heaven 7 War Bird to add to the confusion.
I decided to try a graphite-boron regular shaft (mid-kick point),
although all my other woods are steel stiff shaft. (Nevada Bob's
offered a full return on the club if I wasn't happy, so what the heck.)
Ok, it was bit pricey, too, but I was in the mood to treat myself that
day.
I must admit, the club is very easy to hit. Nevada Bob's told me that
the loft was comparable to a 5 wood, which I can believe since I can
hit the Heaven over 200 yrds with a full swing. I was concerned over
the shaft stiffness since I have a pretty fast swing, but it seems to
feel much smoother and more fluid than the stiff steel. I played three
rounds with the Heaven wood and it has quickly become of my favorite
clubs. I pushed it a couple of times, and over shot a few greens
getting used to the distance, but it is just plain fun to hit.
So, now I have no use for my old 5 wood... and I'm thinking about
packing in my 1-3-5 Boom Boom's for a Big Bertha 3 wood War Bird.
