Mt Airy Lodge's course is supposed to be modeled from Sports
Illustrated "best 18". It's in the Pocono Mts.

I don't know about the highest, but the lowest elevation course is
located in Death Valley, CA. It is appropriately named Furnace Creek.
Surprisingly, the course is tree lined and has a couple of water
hazards. As I recall the course was not very long, but the low
elevation causes you to take an extra 1/2 club to carry the same
distance as on a regular course. It was kind of like playing in
5-10 mph winds which shifted so they were always in your face, except
that you definitely wanted to get the ball high in the air.

| The National Golf Links, in Southampton, L.I., N.Y. is an old C.B.
MacDonald course that was modeled after the great holes in the British
Isles.
There is a course in NH that also is supposed to be modeled after
great golf holes, but, from what I've heard, they did a poor job.

I don't know if it would be unique, but the panarama

Jack, I've played the National and loved it. It was the first time I
played a course that resembled something from another land. The Garden
City GC also plays like a Scotish course.
The most unique club I've seen recently is called Tour 18 in Houston.
The builders duplicated 18 of the greatest holes in America. The unique
part of this 18 is that they digitized the terrain of all 18 holes to
the inch and duplicated them to the inch. The feedback is that members
from the original courses were asked to play and the reviews were
unbelievable. Members have sworn that they are playing there home
course. They duplicated Amen corner, 18 at Harbour Town (including
the lighthouse), 18 at Pebble, church pews at Oakmount. etc. Raes Creek
and all.
I know this has been done before but the difference is this is a
masterpiece. Tee times are a month out. All computer technology and
laser construction. The developer has plans to build two more in San
Antonio and Dallas.
Truly Unique. I'm sure you'll read about it the coming months.

The northernmost golf course in the world is Bjrkliden in Abisko in
the far north of Sweden. A quick look at the world map reveals that
Abisko is located at roughly the same latitude as Aklavik, Canada or
northern Alaska.
This nine-hole course has been built where all biologists claim it's
impossible for grass to grow, and among its features are snow bunkers
and literally round-the-clock play during its short season (because of
the midnight sun)
