1632.0. "Tom Kite at the Hope Classic." by ELWOOD::BERNARD () Mon Feb 15 1993 08:33

Tom Kite showed'em how to play the game this weekend in the Bob Hope
Classic, 35 under par for 90 holes, a PGA record. He set the course
record of 62 in the last round. Kite had two eagles, and a flock of
birdies. The coverage of the tournement was excellent until Sunday
afternoon. TV coverage was suppose to start at 4:00 EST but the NBA
game between the Knicks and the Magic went into triple overtime, they
took more than an hour out of the golf coverage. Why the hell can't the
NBA come up with something better than 5 minute O.T periods? If at the
end of a regulation game the score is tied they should have a jump ball
at center court and the first team to score wins the game.
Maybe it's just a bad case of "Cabin Fever" but watching the golf
events on TV from sunny places like Naples, Florida, Palm Springs,
Pebble Beach, and Maui has me chomping at the bit for springtime. I
got some new clubs this year, and a Jack Nicklaus video. With all the
preparation and planning I'll still probably tee it up and slice it
    into the pond.

I know what you mean, last year I believe at the same tournement there
was a Portland/Seatle (I Think) went into double overtime. Boy I was
Irate. But being from Orlando and a big Magic\Shaq fan I was glad to
see the whole game. See here in Orlando besides playing year round,
there has been a Cable War. Sunshine Networks who carries the home
games only has been in a battle with Cablevision and has refused to
carry home games. This all began on Jan 1, and while all games are
sellouts, we the cable subscribers suffer. Thats why on Thursday of
this week we are having a Satilite Disk installed, so we will no longer
be a prisoner of the cable slime.

Oh what a feeling it must be. How can someone get in the groove
like Kite is and stay there?

The man played GREAT almost flawless golf. He is the all time money
winner with nearly $8 MILLION in earnings.

If I was in charge if the PGA I have Tom Kite provide a urine sample...
He's playing like a man on GOLF DRUGS.... I happened to be watching the
end of the tourney. with my wife and mother (Nice Valetines day gift).
Both of them could not believe how much money he won for one week and
plus about a 22K car. I told them never mind that thing how much he's
going to add to the ole pocket from the endorsements.....

Well it was fun to watch someone in the "zone".

My favorite for the MASTERS this year and he's got the track record
and motivation to win this year. Look at last year.
