DIGITAL MAYNARD GOLF LEAGUE
TO: GOLF LEAGUE MEMBERS FEBRUARY 8, 1992

Once again, it is time to think of warmer weather, the start of the
golf season and the Digital Maynard Golf League. We are now accepting
applications and play will begin on the week of Monday, April 26.
As was the case last year, Stow Acres will be using tee times and we
will continue to work with them to address the problems of slow play
and late tee times that run into darkness. The application
specifically states a range of times for the tee times in any
particular flight and division. We hope that this will provide an
additional level of clarity.
We continue to work closely with Stow Acres to eliminate the late tee
times and we have been given first priority to get earlier tee times if
they become available due to changes in other leagues. Unfortunately,
we will not know for sure until late in March. To help us understand
your availability for earlier tee times if we get them, please answer
the question on the bottom of the application.
In line with our goal to continually improve communications between the
league and its membership we have established a separate VAX NOTES
conference to publicize rules, league and outing applications, weekly
results and general league news. The conference is ZYXT::MGL93.
Every year the committee attempts to control expenses and minimize the
cost to its members. This year, due to uncertainty in the recreation
subsidy from Digital and prices at Stow the total cost for regular
season play will be $220.00 per member. This represents an increase of
$10.00 as compared to last year. If you wish to be paired with a
specific player as a team you should submit one application with both
names and full payment for two players ($440.00). Dues for alternates
will be $15.00. Full payment of all fees MUST BE SUBMITTED with the
application.
As was the case last year, all participants of Digital sponsored
recreation activities are required to complete an activity release
form. To simplify the collection of these forms, a copy has been
attached and it must be completed and submitted with the application.
NO applications will be accepted without a signed release form from the
participants.
Instructions, an application and a release form are attached. Please
read them carefully. There will not be a hardcopy distribution of this
message (retirees who were members of the league last year will receive
this mailing at their home address), it will only be sent on network.
It is the responsibility of every league member and alternate to keep
the committee informed of changes to their electronic mail address. If
you know of someone who has not received this mailing or who is
interested in joining the league, please have them send mail to
ZYXT::MGL or access the league's VAXNOTES conference (ZYXT::MGL93) to
get an application.

1993 APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. All applications must be returned by Friday, March 12th to be
eligible for membership in the league.
2. All employee information on the release form and application must
be completed. We will continue to maintain an on-line
distribution list to keep members better informed of league status
and special events. (However, it is YOUR responsibility to keep
us informed of changes to your on-line mail address. Retirees
should foward address changes to Mary Donahue at the address
below.)
3. Teams should submit only one application with both names included.
Individual applications requesting a specific partner will be
returned and not honored. Please coordinate submission with your
partner in advance.
4. Full payment must be submitted with the application or it will be
returned and not honored. Required payments are as follows:
- Individual member applications $ 220.00
- Team applications $ 440.00
- Alternate applications $ 15.00
5. Applications should indicate (from first to last preference; 1, 2,
3, etc.) all times that a team or individual is available to play
within their handicap group (A, B, or C Flight). Any times that
are not marked will not be considered for inclusion in the league.
6. All applications will be date stamped and the assignment of
players will be made in the following priority:
Applications received by Friday, March 12:
1. Members requesting same partner, flight and division.
2. Two members requesting partner, flight or division changes.
Order based on date stamp.
3. Member and alternate requesting partner, flight or division
changes. Order based on date stamp.
4. Alternates requesting upgrade to full-time.
Order based on date stamp.
5. Member and new applicant requesting team membership.
Order based on date stamp.
6. An alternate and new applicant requesting team membership.
Order based on date stamp.
7. New applicants based on date stamp.
Applications received after Friday, March 12.
8. Eligible for alternate status only.

I am looking for a partner for the MGL 'A' flight. I don't know
which days the A flight will play but I would prefer mid-to-late
week, but that is not a mandate.
I finish last year at 6 hdcp for 9 holes, but that was due to a
couple of flukes. I expect to start playing at 7 or maybe even with
a '*' but expect to make it back to 6 soon.
Partner must be competitive (Who in A flight isn't? :-), but without
taking things too seriously (no club throwers) and fun to play with.
Gee, this sounds like a personal ad :-)

Bill,
Last year there were at least two different leagues playing at
Butternut. One you can find some contact if you do a
DIR/TITLE=BUTTERNUT. I don't know if it will continue this year.
The other one was a very informal league that Mary Donahue and Rick
Oconnor put together. Rick left the company, but is my understanding
that Mary plans to continue that league this year. Give her a call,
she is at MRO1.

I did do a DIR/TIT and I knew about Rick Strom's league and Mary's
league I was just checking to see if there was anything new happening?
