1548.0. "infor on "Green Card"" by LEDS::SIMARD (just in time.....) Mon Jul 06 1992 12:14

I have search key words and most of the directory and just gave up.
So, I'll take a chance and ask for a pointer or information on the
"Green Card" that's making it's way around Mass.

Any one know anything about how it's working? I understand that you
buy a booklet of golf clubs that are in on this and you can go to their
courses at reduced rates or free greens fees.

This is kinda like the "Dine Out" club. Only it's for golf.

    Thanks,
    Leo

New England Golf will match your donation to the Jimmy Fund.
Green CArd Membership is good for one year from the date of purchase.

Can you afford not to have it? The $49 Green Card is the best buy in
Golf today. If you're cutting back on the amount you play because of
expense, a Green CArd membership is the answer.

And now we'll donate as much as you will to The Jimmy Fund Golf
Program. Since 1983 this program has been in "full swing" supporting
the fund raising efforts of the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber CAncer
Institute. Now you too can take a swing at curing cancer.

New ENgland Golf will also keep you posted on the many tournaments
held throughout New England in support of the Jimmy Fund or even
    help you host your own.

1548.6some restrictions applyNOVA::FINNERTYlies, damned lies, and the CAPMFri Apr 22 1994 15:1515

sounds like it may be a good deal, but "some restrictions apply". The
    restrictions are:

you generally are required to rent a cart,
you must play during the week, and
you may play at most once (.-1) or twice (.-2) at each of the
    	  participating clubs.

so you may not actually save much or any money if you ordinarily carry
your own bags, but at least some of the money goes to a worthy-sounding
    cause.

I have found some the restrictions to not be cast in stone.
The course in Winchendon let's you come back as many times
as you want. They don't limit you to two.

If you call in advance for a weekend tee time and tell them
that you have the green card, they may find an early afternoon
slot for you, but probably not a morning tee time.

I usually golf with another green card holder and they would
allow us to rent one cart for the two of us and no greens fees.
My cost was then only half the cart rental Most places were
    willing to do that.

Not all places are lax on the restrictions, but some are.
