I am interested in purchasing a set of custom built golf clubs and
would like to take the opportunity of an upcoming trip to the Acton
area to buy them as the prices here in Switzerland are prohibitive.
Basically I'm not after anything too fancy as I'm a very high
handicapper (28) but have the following in mind.
* Perimiter Weighted (A good quality Ping Clone or something similar)
* Flat Lie and perhapse a shortened shaft (I'm only 5'4" and with my
present clubs standard set of Mc Gregor Tourneys I tend to hit most
shots off the heel)
* I'd like the clubs to last me for the next couple of years as I
hopefully progress.
Could someone post the name of a good club maker or golf shop in the
area whom I could contact ?. (I'd prefer to give the business to a
DEC or ex DEC employee)
What should I expect to pay for such a set (Ballpark numbers are fine)
Would it be possible to get the fitting and swing characistics sorted
out in a one week period ?. (I've no idea as to what is involved)

Donal,
There is a place in Waltham (20 minutes from Acton) that makes custom
clubs and is fairly priced. You should figure a minimum of $225-250
U.S. for a set of irons. The name is Golf Express and the phone is
617-893-4177. I have no idea if they can do this for you in 1 week.

Gene would have been the guy... I live in Pa., too far away to help.
Consider buying a flat lie club and having the shafts cut IF NECESSARY.
It's really suprising, but club length seldom needs to be customized.
The major factor in customizing clubs is really lie.
