1503.0. "1st Annual GIA Spring Scramble" by GIAMEM::STAYLOR () Mon Apr 13 1992 13:12

Announcing .... The First Annual GIA Spring Scramble

From the producers who brought you the GIA OPEN I and II comes a
sequel, the 1st Annual GIA Spring Scramble. We are venturing into
areas we have never been before so..........

Warp Speed Scottie --- Let's Get It On

Since everyone has enjoyed themselves at the two fall outings at
Westminster CC, we listened to your feedback and will hold a scramble
at Stow Acres CC on May 13. We chose the scramble format for the
spring outing to allow you to have a warm up for the leagues or
recreational golf and then wrap the year up with the 3rd Annual GIA
Open, to be held once again in September.

For those of you who may not understand a scramble, simply put, it is a
best ball team score for the 18 holes. Teams will be made competitive
based on handicaps to equalize all the teams. Unlike the fall outing,
where it is individual scores based on a Callaway handicap format, a
scramble will not allow normally for teams to sign up as a foursome.
If possible, based on your team handicaps, we will try to accommodate
those of you who wish to play as a team. Normally this can not happen
since a team should be comprised of low to high handicaps to keep play
    even.

We are looking for 100 golfers. Tee times will be assigned starting
around 9:00 and go through to a cut off time determined by Stow Acres
CC, due to league play. We will have the North Course. The particulars
on cost are $32.00 per player, with carts optional. This will cover
greens fees and prizes per team. The prizes based on 100 golfers would
    be:

1st place team -- $70.00 SACC Pro Shop Gift Cert, per golfer

         2nd place team -- $40.00 " " " " " " "

         3rd place team -- $30.00 " " " " " " "

         4th place team -- $20.00 " " " " " " "

Your application and check for $32.00, made payable to GIA OPEN, should
be sent to Evan Raine, LJO2/B4, by April 27. We will cap the amount of
players around 100, so if you wish to play, please get your application
    and check in early.

Looking forward to seeing all of you in May.

    Regards,

Evan Raine, Sandy Taylor, Gary Bittner and Sam Pruett
