| I believe John Dailey uses Wilson Ultra FIRESTICKS.

| I'm sure you didn't have this problem with the driver you purchased, but...
I had an experience similar to yours where I found a driver at Nevada Bob's at
one price and went to another discount store and found it cheaper. What I
found was that the shaft was actually different and that changed the price (of
course)
Here in Atlanta we have Pro Golf discount stores and they not only beat
Nevada Bob's prices, but they have a much wider selection.
Thanks for the info on the driver, I may take a peak at it this week. I've
just hit the "LongSword" and both like AND dislike it. Sort of like my
feeling on Ping irons, I can kill 'em, but I can't feel 'em and hate the way it
looks. As for the Longsword, I don't think I could EVER hit it from the fairway
consistantly and that bothers me.
To each his own, as they say...

1493.3 | John Daly DID USE COBRA | MR4DEC::BBARRY | | Thu Apr 02 1992 16:28 | 13 |

Last Year he used the Cobra Ultrimid Driver, this year he is using FIRETICKS.
The driver is not new. I think it debut in the 1990 season. I bought one at
the beginning of last year, before John Daly became famous. Under normal
circumstances I don't notice much difference in feel. In the winter though
when Top-Flites feel like rocks, this driver is smooth.

1493.4 | COBRA ULTRAMID DRIVER | SHRPS1::RBOCOP::SYSTEM | "Top Gun" | Thu Apr 02 1992 17:46 | 9 |
| The ULTRAMID driver did come out in 1990. It was scheduled to be cancelled
until Daly showed up with an ULTRMID head with a firestick shaft. Greg Norman
used to use one occasionally too. Now Cobra decided to continue the ULTRMID
and Daly signed a 4 million deal to use WILSON ULTRA's....A typical cat-mouse
game of a PGA pro chasing money and the manufacturers chasing the "big name
stars."

1493.5 | The Whale | ESKIMO::TREMBLAY | | Fri Apr 03 1992 23:57 | 5 |
| If I'm not mistaken, "Firestick" is the graphite shaft. "The Whale" is
the new oversized driver from Wilson and comes in either graphite or
titanium head. I tried them both into the net at the golf show at Stow
Acres but Big Bertha felt more solid.

| Not to get too far off the subject, but I have been hitting a
Callaway Big Bertha since last fall, 11 degree loft with a boron
graphite shaft (firm) and I love it.I dont find any great distance
increase but I like the way it feels and handles.
