About the Sarita Hope Learning Center

The Sarita Hope Learning Center, formerly known as "The Fitchburg Center for 
Brain Injured Children,"  is a private school which was founded in 1972 by a 
frustrated parent for the purpose of of providing needed services for her 
daughter & other multi-handicapped children.

Originally the program served a profoundly & severely involved, visually 
impaired, pre-school population.  With the implementation of the 
Massachussets' Special Education Law, Ch. 766, the Center added services & 
included older children, some of whom require extensive nursing care.

The program has continued to grow & evolve, always cognizant of its purpose: 
to provide intensive, appropriate, individualized instruction & therapy along 
with group experiences for each student.

The Center is a Ch. 766 Department of Education, Division of Special Education 
approved private day school & is also licensed by the Office for Children.  
Operated as a non-profit organization, the Center receives funding in the form 
of tuition for students from area school districts, as well as Grants & 
private contributions.

Having received no increase in tution rates since 1988, the Center requires a 
substantial increase in private funds raised in order to continue operations.

Your participation in this event will help support the continued operation of 
this program for a special population of children!
