1435.0. "Senior Skins "92"" by JUPITR::PERCUOCO () Mon Jan 27 1992 15:11

    Wasn't Sundays round of the Senior Skins, great!?
    Those guys really put on a show. Between Trevino's
    bantering and Chi Chi's Sabre dance, It was very
    enjoyable. Of course you can't say enough about Arnie's
    chip in on #12. That sucker was in when it left the club!
    Jack was pretty steady although he had a little trouble
    finding the pin.
     I liked Trevino barking down the fairway at the marshall
    up on the green, what a riot! I hope they get those
    guys together in the future for another skins match!!

1435.1BIG MOUTH LEEJUNCO::TREMBLAYMon Jan 27 1992 15:4110
    Yes, it was fun to watch The King win. It took him 3 birdies in a
    row to win a skin. I do get sick of Trevino's mouth sometimes. I
    understand his yelling at the marshall (having marshalled him at the
    Digital Seniors several times and seeing some marshalls who are
    totally clueless as to their duties) but every time the camera was on
    him he seemed to be sniffling and moaning and groaning about his cold.
    Chi Chi is still the best showman, Arnie is still the King, Jack will
    always be the best ever and Lee is the mouth that roared!!

1435.2Six under, too!VERGA::F_MCGOWANTue Jan 28 1992 18:4413
    The really remarkable thing was that Palmer shot a 30 for the back 9.
    Not too bad for a guy 62 years young.

    I enjoyed both days (but being a Palmer fan, Sunday a wee bit more). I
    agree that Trevino's constant chatter gets a little annoying after an
    hour or so (must be a lot of fun playing a full round with him if a lot
    of mouth gets on your nerves). It was nice that everyone got a few
    skins, and nobody pulled a doughnut. I'll even give Vin Scully credit
    for one semi-amusing comment ("I had to have my ball retriever
    regripped."), though it probably wasn't original. Still, he wins this
    month's thundering redundancy award for noting that "Yesterday, Palmer
    was having trouble with his approach shots *to the green*." Where else,
    Vin? The parking lot?
1435.3Shut up Vin.....DNEAST::SMITH_PETERGive me the white out...Wed Jan 29 1992 08:545
    I was more irritated by Vin Scully's constant chatter. They ought to
    do the next Skin's Game without announcers so we can hear what the
    golfers are actually saying. Or they should let CBS do the Skin's
    Game. Anything, just don't let Vin Scully get anywhere near the
    competition.....
1435.4 Vin, GO AWAY !!MRKTNG::VARLEYWed Jan 29 1992 10:0011
    Scully stinks ! He's an author in search of a poem. I think he's trying
    to be Bernard Darwin, but he belongs in Charles Darwin's waiting
    room...(Thanks, Dennis Miller). I like Trevino's one liners, but I
    think he's insecure and classless. Watch him at a tourney when he tells
    a story - if he doesn't get a response, he says "Huh, Huh ?" until
    someone laughs or responds. Woe to anyone in the gallery who tries to
    engage in repartee with Lee. He cuts the guy off at the knees right
    away. His caddy is even worse. Lee is "Low Mexican," but Chi Chi is
    "THE MAN !!"

1435.5"What'd he say?"AKOCOA::BREENBill Breen Ako2-3 244-7984Wed Jan 29 1992 13:4018
    There was an interesting exchange between Nicklaus and Trevino on
    Saturday. If I caught it right Lee said "4 just might win this hole
    (par)"
    	Jack then said "Why don't you [sink the putt] and we'll all find
    out"
    	Then I heard Trevino saying "What'd he say, huh?" and finally
    stepping up and making the putt.

    	I got the feeling that Jack can only take so much of Lee's talk.

    One thing all four have in common is a tremendous competitive drive
    illustrated best by Arnold's comeback on Sunday - I just happened to
    hear him interviewed on ESPN Radio on Sat. night and he was quite
    disappointed in his showing on Saturday with of course no excuses
    period. In fact I cannot recall ever hearing Arnold making excuses.

1435.6Another OpinionSIERAS::MCCLUSKYFri Jan 31 1992 15:456
    Another opinion - I like Lee and have walked 36 with him and had a
    ball. Jack is the greatest ever and Arnie is Mr. Class. I can't
    understand how 135 lbs. hits it so far, but it is fun to watch Chi Chi!
    Mr. Scully is the best sportscaster around.
