1416.0. "grind baby grind" by TOLKIN::HOGAN () Fri Jan 10 1992 15:52

Well what are you doing to insure you are ready when the season begins
in just a few months from now. Are you doing any streching excersises,
putting on the livingroom rug, swingning in the garage. For us
Northeners this is the time we can really help ourselves. This is the
time that will determine if you will come out of the shoot strong or
hack it up for a month before you get back into playing shape. You
don't want to feel totally lost when you stand over that first putt. If
you want to lower that cap or win that club championship this season
your not going to do it by sitting around for 3 months. Is your putter
sitting in the corner in the livingroom? If not go get it.

    Me! I putt every night
        Streching every morning
Swing my clubs every chance I get working on tempo smmoooooth
Hit balls evey chance I get temp above 32
Repair and build clubs over the winter

If you want to continually improve you must continually work harder.

Myself I like to think nobody hits more balls, takes more putts or
works on the swing more than I do. Grind Baby grind. I don't care if
you are a 25 or a 2 grind baby grind.

    Pete,

I played yesterday at the Cape Cod Country Club in Falmouth. Struck the
ball pretty solid after a six week layoff. I did spend a few nights
before that putting. Pratice putting in the living room consists of
hitting about a dozen balls with the left hand only and then about a
dozen with my eyes shut. I think that I only had three three putt
greens in 27 holes. I also try to swing the clubs outside for a little
while about once a week to try to keep the feel. I will try again next
Sunday weather permiting. I will be working on the "Mook Method" of the
gentle weight shift to the back foot, though. It felt very good when I
    managed to do it.

Hell, I played Stow Acres south Saturday. birdied the 16th. I was tickled pink,
it was eqivalent in feeling to getting an eagle. We had a great time an it
sure beats putting om the carpet or swinging in the garage although with snow
on most of the greens and frozen turf and 30 degree temp. Grind, grind grind -
ohps I slipped on the ice.

I don't have a garage, my basement is too low, and my back hurts if I
practice putting for more than 5 minutes, soooooo..... as the two
previous notes, I prefer to go out doesn't matter the conditions of
    the course.

I played also Stow on Friday and the weather was a not too bad, but
like Phil mentions, there was a lot of snow (it was almost ice) in
the ground and hitting from a thin blanket of snow is almost like
hitting from hard pan, BUT IT WAS BETTER THAN NOT PLAYING AT ALL!!

Putting was a joke, we tried to clear of snow to the line at the
    beginning but it was useless.

Later this week may not be too bad.
