1316.0. "South shore (MA) courses?" by TSGDEV::FAULDS () Tue Jul 16 1991 17:08

    Okay all (any) of you South Shore guys...who can tell me some decent
    courses in the Marshfield, MA area? I'll be in Brant Rock /
    Green Harbour at the shore.

    I'm an average player so I don't need a top notch place. I do detest
    having to wait forever at each tee, fairway...during my round. 9 hole
    courses would be fine too as I may not have time to get in 18 :^(

    Any and all help appreciated!

1316.13 Courses not too far awayAKOCOA::MULLINWed Jul 17 1991 12:5111
    There are two, fairly simple, 18 hole courses. One is the Green Harbor
    golf course (very close to where you'll be) and the other is maybe a
    20-25 minute drive in Whitman called Ridder Farms. Expect long outings
    at both these courses 5 + hours.

    A nine hole course in Marshfield - I think is semi-private - called
    North Hill.

    Also in Easton there is Easton Country Club.

    Hope this helps.
1316.2Some Thoughts...ASABET::VARLEYWed Jul 17 1991 16:1713
    North Hill is in Duxbury and is strong ! Pine Oaks in Easton is a
    9-holer with a LOT more variety than Easton C.C. Green harbor is one of
    5 courses featuring Manny Francis' famous "Vesper Bentgrass" greens.
    I've never played it, but if the "bent" is as good as Vesper's is,the
    greens will be unbelievable.

     There is a publinx in central Ma. - Gilbertville - called "Dunroamin."
    It, too, is a "Goat Ranch" but it also has Vesper Bent greens. You guys
    in the area should play it just to see the greens. Great people,
    perfect greens, lousy course - but play it ! And yes, this is the
    curmudgeon speaking !
