1287.0. "Houston courses and things to do " by CSOA1::CONNER (Welcome to the jungle) Wed Jun 19 1991 14:10

I will be in Houston from 17-July thru 26-July and am looking for info
on courses in the area. I will be attending AIM training at Biles and
Associates and will be staying at the Residence Inn, both of which are
located on the Southwest Expressway, just west of 610.

What are some good courses, please include price if known, and how do
I get there ? If anybody would like to show me first hand, all the better !
You might as well include any other "points of interest/don't miss" places.

Thanks,
Mike _From_Indiana_and_not_sure_about_that_hot_Texas_sun_ !!!

Be sure to play Bear Creek. It's open to the public and is in the top
100 US Publinx. I also think The Woodlands is open to the public. You
    may want to try it.

My best sourse of info when travelling to a strange place is to check
with the Nevada Bob's or other local discounters and check with the
staff for a recommendation. I have had great luck going this route and
have even found places that are not in the yellow pages.

    Good Luck,
    Ken

BTW: Bring your sun block and be prepared to ride. Today's temp. high
    90's. Not a walkers paradise.

Call Champions and ask about requirements for playing the Cypress
Creek course (Jackrabbit is the other 18 hole course there). Play this
one from the "Tips," and you'll need CPR.

    Jack,

What are the "Tips" ? I could probably do better without any CPR
before during or after my round (although, with an 18 hdc., ya' never know).

Mike. :-)

"Tips" means playing from the end of the back tees. BIG difference on
    the Cypress Creek course.

    Jack,

Thanks for the "tip." Being as I have yet to break 100 I thing I'll
pass on the tips. I shot a 48 a couple weeks ago. The next week I played 9
holes on the same course and lost 7 balls :-( (See my name in the dictionary
under "inconsistent") I like easy course where I can stay in the fairway, mine
or yours, so I can at least find the ball after I hit.

    Mike,

If you make it to VT. look me up, sounds like we'd get a long just
fine on the course. We could help each other look for those wood
    hunting golf balls.
