1220.0. "EQL Clubs" by COMET::SKELTON () Mon Apr 29 1991 18:22

I'm interested in comments on Tommy Armour EQL clubs. They
are unique in that the set has the same length shaft on all
	irons.

I have a retina problem that has caused me to become centrally
blind in the left eye. That causes me to have a depth perception
problem and I tend to hit irons "fat" or top the ball a lot.

I'm wondering if the common length shaft would enable me to develop
a more "mechanical", repeatable swing than using the standard
set with shafts that vary in length by club.

Has anyone had any experience with them or know someone who has?

Do they play with the usual 10 yard differential between clubs?
How do they keep from adding yards to the short irons? More loft?

	Thanks for any help.

		Ron

BTW...Gene or anyway else who knows...how do those clubs like the Tommy
Armour E.Q.L. which have the same length shaft throughout the set work?

By that I mean does their 5 iron for example have a 30 deg loft/28 deg
    loft/20 deg loft?
I suspect that knowing this may shed some light on wether length is
    a factor in loft....???

My clubs were stolen last year and i did not find out until i got to
the course. The only set they had that i could use were the above
mentioned clubs. It appeared to me that the loft was the same as
regular clubs. I did not have a problem with the middle and higher
clubs but i could not get any distance out of the 4 and 3 irons.
personally i would not even consider buying them but with the
depth perception problem it could be your answer. I would say that
you call around to find a set someone will let you demo.

    hope this helps
