1177.0. "What happens to a Golfball in MICROWAVE?" by CTOAVX::DAVENPORT () Fri Mar 08 1991 12:07

Did you guys hear about the kid in Austrailia that put a golf ball into a
Micro-Wave? The kid was trying to reshape the ball for it melted in the
sun light. The ball blew up,flew through the microwave door an broke this
kids nose! He's lucky he didn't get killed! This isn't funny, but it is knowing
the kid is all right.

    Absolutely true story:

As you all know, warm golf balls travel farther on very cold days. My
father went out to play golf one Christmas day some 30 years ago. He
put some balls in the oven and set it to warm. While he was off doing
something else, my mom decided to warm the oven up in order to roast
the turkey or whatever. About 15 minutes after she cranked the
temperature up, there was this tremendous explosion in the kitchen from
the demise of the heretofore undiscovered (by my mother) golf balls.
The stench from the charred rubber bands was incredible. My father
high-tailed it out of the house while he could still walk and my mom
ended up cleaning the oven twice before it was fit for cooking food.
The dinner that year had a decidedly different flavor to it...

RE.1 did she "slice" the roast when it was done? Or is she "hooked"
    on seafood now?

Sounds like she is prone to "putter" around in the kitchen.
