Help! I was down in the basement this weekend and went over to look at my clubs. There's rust on them! A couple of clubs have spots on the shaft, and some have rust on the head (face and back). What can I do to fix them? I sure hope they're not ruined. Thanks, -Tom

It's probably just surface rust. Clean them up with a brillo/SOS pad. Then wipe them dry reel good before putting them back. Mike

After you clean them (Brillo, as mentioned previously) put a coat of car wax on them. This is good preventive maintenance. When I put my clubs away in the late fall/early winter, I scrub the grips and clubheads then wax the shafts. Then it's like starting the next season with a new set of clubs. PL

IF THEY ARE A GOOD QUALITY CLUB AND RELATIVELY NEW, YOU SHOULD CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. WITH ALL OF THE DIFFERENT COATINGS TODAY, YOU CAN SCRATCH THE SURFACE AND CAUSE MORE RUSTING PROBLEMS LATER. IF THEY ARE FORGED CLUBS THEY CAN BE RE-CHROMED. YOU CAN ALSO SPRAY THEM WITH A CLEAR COAT TO PROTECT THE FINISH. BEST TO ASK A PRO SHOP THAT DOES CLUB REPAIR FOR ADVISE. SOUNDS TO ME LIKE THE ACID RAIN IS HAVING AN AFFECT. JUST THINK, IF THAT STUFF CAN RUST YOUR GOLF CLUBS, IMAGINE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LICK YOUR GOLF BALLS TO CLEAN THEM. REMINDS ME OF A JOKE......
