    I am considering a trip to the Hiton Head area during the first week of
    March and would appreciate any recommendations on places to stay
    (preferably a resort with course located on site), places to see, etc.
    
    Also, what is the weather like there at this time of year?
    
    Any information would be appreciated.

	There is a local golf directory that lists all the course's on and around Hilton Head. Its called Golfer's Guide for Hilton Head Island P.O. box 22120 Hilton Head Island, SC 29925 phone# 803-681-5980 and it's free.

	Look into an American Lung or Heart Assoc. golf card before you go down. Green fees are up there ($50 - $60). If the card is available, you can save some bucks. It was avail. last year. You can call around to some of the clubs for a number. Ken

	We go every year. Golf heaven. I always stayed at Palmetto Dunes resort. They have 3 courses, all excellant courses and in very good shape. About a mile off the island is Rose Hill, very low priced and worth playing. Gary Player has a new course there Hilton head National. I've not had a chance to play it, but it is getting great reviews. For a few $$ you can play Harbor Town site of the PGA tour. Short course with very small greens and tight fairways. Be careful and do some checking. Sometimes it is not in the best of conditions. Shipyard Resort is another nice place. It also has 3 excellant courses. If you are planning to have 4 players, most of these courses will take tee times 3 months to a year in advance. For a single there is no problems calling the day before. Never had a complaint about the area. Will be there Labor day weekend.

	**** I would also suggest Arthur Hills course, I believe in Palmetto Dunes. Hardest course I ever played in my life. One hole was a 200+yd carry over water from the white tees, 250 from the blues. Most have pot bunkers somewhere around the green, 5 ft deep. Usually, you get a discount on courses within the plantation you are staying. For example, staying in Sea Pines gets you a discount on its courses. Have fun.
