Hello all!!! My name is Peter Barone, October 1st, 1990 was my starting date with Digital, so please excuse any mistakes while I get used to Notes. Thanks "DUCKHOOK" It scares me to say it" I have been playing golf for twenty years and since moving to Arizona 10 years ago I really became hooked ( no pun intended) on the game. My problem seems that that I come over the top of the ball just before impact. My last round I played 8 holes with no problem and then "Ouch, OB". Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can consistintly stay behind the ball. Thanks

I have one suggestion 1. Sometimes coming over the top is caused by a flat swing of course I don't know if that is the case with you. But, if so I suggest when you address the ball look at the lower left quarter of the ball and hit it. One way to find out if your swing is flat is stand about a foot or so from a wall and start your takeaway. you should be able to get to the top without hitting the wall. Maybe a couple of feet from the wall. Relax over the ball particularlly your right hand. If you squeeze the club to much you will turn the sucker over and hook city. Make sure your shoulders a square to the ball at impact. If your shoulders a through the hitting zone at impact it could cause a pull or even a push. Good Luck Pete

I've found that starting the downswing from the ground up, rather than with the arms and shoulders helps prevent that over-the-top duckhook or pullhook. Getting that weight shifted left first thing is the key. That'll get the legs moving forward, the hips open up, torso uncoils, arms follow, then POW - you can hit as hard as you want with the right side without fear of hooking. And you have to hit with the right now otherwise you'll block it right. Been fighting the duckhook since a kid, Bob

Agreed. That's why after years of a hook, I've gone to straight, and now to having to fight off a slice. Now I have to get my hands through faster! -db |
