Having played this tournament last year, i have to say its by far
the most LAME tournament i've ever played in! One would think that for
his $150 (ya, sure..its the priviledge of playing the course) that they
would have had a better organized, "after the golf is done" program..
after the golf was all said and done and you were all showered up you
went up for dinner...had dinner...out came the prizes..about 4 or so..
and that was it...wham-bang..your on your way home..i'd say from the
time we sat down to the time to go home was no more than 1 1/2 hours
and i think thats dragging it out abit.
I'm by no means any type of real golfer but do enjoy the game alot and
have contributed many times over my share of $$$ to charity golf..but
EVERY other tourney i've played in (especially the big $$ ones) they
have had a large assortment of prizes for all different types of
little contests and raffles and the often..most folks walk away with a
little something or at least feeling good about the day...even if one
didn't win anything it was enjoyable watching everyone running up for
their prizes and the fun poked at everyone..even the cheapest of
tournaments (the $40 types) even have an assortment of prizes that go
up for prizes..
what i noticed with the International last year was that if you weren't
a damned good golfer you didn't have a prayer of winning anything..
(no, i didn't expect to win anything..but a raffle would have been
nice) and don't herd everyone in..give them a so-so buffet and give out
the money prize and thats it...no clubs,no golf bags, balls, head covers,
pitching nets,unbrellas...things like that that make you dropping your
$150 not seem so bad...even if you don't go home with anything at least
you see a bunch of stuff up there that keeps people coming back year
after year hoping that his $150 and $10 raffle will let him go home
with his little umbrella!...in my opinion...if the organizers of this
tournament don't get some real prizes for your average joe to go home
with (instead of just 4 money prizes) the average joe (who really makes
a tournament) won't go a second time..i know our foursome won't be
there this year...we've opted to attend a different charity tournament.
yeah..the course is great..but playing stow 6 times for the same amount
of money is great too!
