1086.0. "Perry Hollow in Wolfeboro NH." by XANADU::CAMPBELL (A mind is a terrible thing) Mon Oct 01 1990 16:24

    I just played this course in Wolfeboro, NH and I must say that it's
    the nicest one I have seen to this day.

    The place is called Perry Hollow. It only has 9 holes opened right
    now, but the other nine are cut. Each hole is cut into the woods,
    with not 2 holes adjacent to each other. The bank pulled out the
    financing, so the back nine are on hold for now.

    The club house csot 1.5 million to make. It's 4-5 stories, with
    a beautiful oak bar in the lounge. There are tennis courts,
    swimming pools, and the largest practice green in the country.
    It must be at least 200 feet long.

    Each hole offers a challenge. Whether it's narrow fairways, well
    placed traps or water hazards, this course will keep you coming
    back. The 10th hole when it is completed will be a 605yd par 5.
    From an elevated tee box, you'll have to drive over trees, bushes,
    etc to get to the fairway.

    The greens are super.

    The cost right now is $20 for 18. Carts, although not required, are
    a must. It's a tough course to walk. Carts cost $22.

    This is a Brian Silva design.

    Sorry, I don't have the number to the place. I'll try to get it
    if anyone is interested.

1086.1What is it's future...?MSEE::KELLEYGolf club repair/custom clubsTue Oct 02 1990 08:549

    Sounds like a great course. I saw a black and white of the club house
    and a simple layout of the course about three to four weeks ago when
    a co-worker brought in the sheet on it as it was going on the auction
    block...! I didn't hear if it sold or any other details... Anybody
    know any more about it?

    Regards

1086.2Still for sale...XANADU::CAMPBELLA mind is a terrible thingTue Oct 02 1990 09:488
    From what the pro told me, no one has bought it yet. One person
    made a bid for it but it was turned down.

    It's a shame the bank did this to them. I could really see this course
    being written up in the golf mags as one of the best in New England.

    I'll agree-the place is beautiful. My wife and I played there in
    July. Talk about hilly !!!! We normally walk, but it was real hot
    so we rented a cart. Glad we did!
