I ordered "New England Golf Magazine" several weeks ago, after seeing an ad at Crumpin Fox. I have not received my issue in the mail yet, however I did look over the August/September issue at a local private golf course today. First impressions: THIN Good pictures (not enough of them) but no explanations Good quality paper No (N.E. instruction) grasses, weather, etc. OK (I guess) article on Crumpin Fox I am really excited about a magazine that deals with N.E., so I can stop reading about the S.C., Cal., and Fla. stuff. We have so much going for us in N.E. Any others seen it yet? Rich

1061.1 | Not a Great Mag, Just a "Rag..." | ASABET::VARLEY | Tue Aug 28 1990 10:27 | 11 | |
Yeah, I read it this weekend at The Fox. They incorrectly listed the slope from the back as 131 (it's 141), and they liberally plagiarized from the hole descriptions I wrote for the Grand Opening program. Geez, if somebody's gonna steal my stuff, I wish it was Herbert Warren Wind or his ilk. Shows how desperate they are for material. One of my "sleeper" favorite mags is "The Golf Club," which is supposedly available to members of private clubs (my sister sends it to me). They did a great profile of a Tillinghast course - Baltimore Country Club's "Five Farms" course. --Jack |
