1043.1 | I also need help | YUPPY::TUCKEY | | Wed Aug 01 1990 07:41 | 20 |
| I too have a similar question.
I am going to Florida this October and want to buy a set of PING
EYE 2 Plus clubs (the ones without the square grooves). I would
like to know of any outlets in the Orlando area that I might be
able to buy off the shelf. I have been told that I need to get the
BLACK dot (standard clubs) by my Pro.
I have been told that PING usually take about 4 - 6 weeks to deliver
so is it best to set up a deal before I go so they will be ready
for me when I arrive ?. I would also be interested in the price
in $'s.
I would also be interested if anyone knows where I can have a look
at PING clones as they are said to be just like the real thing.
regards
Steve

| Suggestion...the guys from Japan go to STOW CC and hit them against
the grass a couple of times then but the clubs, customs does not
think of asking question cause they think its yours from where you
live.

1043.3 | ping prices | CAM::ZIOMEK | Pump up the TEST | Wed Aug 01 1990 13:44 | 12 |
| I have a set of Ping Eye II's I bought last year, paid 489.00 for
3-pw, individual clubs are 65.00 apeice. I saw a set of 'last years'
models at the Chicopee CC last weekend for 419.00 though. Last I
saw the woods were 85.00 apeice. I don't know if they sell them
as a set, say 1-3-5, because they make a full range of woods. I
think they are 1-3-4-5-6-7-9, no 2 or 8 wood, why? I have no idea.
Hope this helps,
John-
** Also, if you have to order them plan on 10 weeks vs. 4-6, thats
how long mine took and that was over the winter!!!!

1043.4 | regarding 1043.1 | ODIXIE::SIVRET | | Thu Aug 02 1990 12:33 | 11 |
| I've seen Ping black dots on the shelf of my club in North Orlando, not
sure if V or U grooves. Not sure of the price but I think it was
around $65 a club. Also I know where you can purchase the Knock-offs
as well for around $25-$30 a club. They carry a great Knock-off of the
Tommy Armor (sp) Silver Scots 845's except fot the number 745's they
look identical. The one change I did notice with the Ping's is there
is now a club available with a new sole design for less bounce on the
shorter clubs. Let me know when you get into town and we will try to
get you set up. You can reach me at odixie::sivret.

1043.8 | PING Metal Woods? | FROSTY::DOWNING | | Sun Aug 12 1990 13:20 | 6 |
| Has anyone heard that PING maybe coming out with metal woods in
the near future? I can't believe they have been sitting back and
letting the metal market pass them by! I went to Pleasant Valley
about 10 years ago and found that the majority of the players playing
PINGS at that time also had one or more of PING woods in their bag.
Last year I did not see one player using the PING woods.

1043.9 | PING purchase??? | FLYSQD::MONTVILLE | | Wed Jul 15 1992 10:44 | 28 |
|
I scanned the "FOR SALE" and the "PING" notes but found nothing
recent. MODERATOR, please feel free to move this if necessary.
Last year I was very fortunate to purchase a new PING 4 wood for
a very reasonable price. I should state the I do not even carry
a driver in the bag as I have used the 3 wood off the tee for
two years (alot better control). After purchasing the 4 wood and
falling in love with the PING (the only PING I have) I have decided
to purchase a PING 3 and possibly the driver.
What I would like to know is the best place to purchase these
weapons in the central MA area. I've checked Marlboro CC and Wayland
and their prices are (I guess) okay. I know the pro and Raceway CC
(Thompson CT). and he said "around $85.00 for steel shafts". I also
played Westminster a few weeks ago and they were selling individuals
for $119 or $100 apiece if you buy three. Can anyone direct me to
a better deal than Raceway. Also important are they in stock. My home
course (Nichols College) does not deal with PING so they are out.
Thanks for any and all information!

1043.10 | Buy what is in stock or wait a couple of months... | SNAX::ERICKSON | What? Me Worry! | Wed Jul 15 1992 12:09 | 22 |
|
I bought a brand new set of Ping Eye 2's from Wayland country
club the beginning of June. Back then the average I found was $60
per Iron and $85 per wood. Here is the problem though, Karsten is
really pushing the Zing's. It takes a pro shop 16 weeks to get a complete
set of Eye 2's in. It takes 4 - 8 weeks just to get a set of woods in.
Wayland had the irons in stock, so I snagged them. They didn't have a
full set of woods 1,3,5, so I ordered them, back then I was told 2 - 4
weeks. I called last week and they said it could take 4 - 8 weeks.
Explanation I got is that they only make Eye 2 woods/irons 1 day per
month. Your order gets put on a first come first served basis. If your
order isn't in before they make the clubs for that month, it could
be 4 weeks wait to be made. Then if there are a lot of orders before
yours they might not be able to make enough in 1 day to fill all orders.
Thus you have to wait another 4 weeks untll there made. I was in no
rush for the woods so the wait doesn't bother me.
If you don't want to wait up to 8 - 12 weeks for the clubs,
buy from whoever has them in stock. Most places don't have 3 woods and
for drivers they only have green and orange dot. The standard lie
black dot woods are hard to find in pro shops.

1043.11 | price and availability | CTHQ2::OBRIEN | ok rabbit where's Rocky | Wed Jul 15 1992 14:40 | 12 |
| For price and availability, I have found Edwin Watts to be very good.
They have a major outlet in Florida that mails clubs anywhere - the
phone number is 800-874-0146 (they advertize a lot in the back of Golf
Digest). There is also an Edwin Watts store (franchised) in Hanover Mass
that I have gone to, right off Route 3.
I have found they have the widest selcetion of real "name" brands and
as low as prices I have found anywhere else.
