Played Sable Oaks this past Saturday and thought I'd post a note on it.  The
Course is managed by the Marriott Corp. so catering to ones needs is very good.
Greens fees are $25 and $18(9per) for a mandatory cart which must remain on 
the very dusty paths!  The course has been open for 2 years now but has sever
winter kill problems both on the greens and fairways.  Is this common with 
new courses?  It is the first course I've played that has the course rating
higher than par and when it matures it will contend with Sugarloaf in the
"Toughest Course in Maine" category in by book.  Actually it's more difficult
on paper and with shape of the course now...  If your thinking of venturing up
this way, I'd delay it till the end of the season, as It's quite crowded too.
The Greens were probably the must undulating that I've played on and seemed like
they could be quite fast as the Kill was real bad.  The course plays very narrow
and holes are quite close to one another with sparse trees twix.  I thought it
to be rather dangerous too.  They have strategically left trees standing around
the greens such that tee and fairway shots need good placement.  Allot of the
Par 4's you'll have to use 3W's or shorter as Drivers will land you in various
bog/tall grass/water hazards.  All of the greens are protected by sand traps
and 4 holes with fairway bunkers.
