The new course in Townsend, MA is called Northern Spy Country Club. The layout looks to be pretty challenging and balanced for hookers and slicers(i.e. a dogleg left, a dogleg right, lateral water left, lateral water right). The course is expected to open the second week of July. Facilities include: 18 hole championship course Practice Range Full Service 19th hole(food & Alcohol) Lockers and Showers Pro Shop Banquet Facilities Golf Carts The owners are planning to have a frequent players club. The frequent players club will be $750/year and if you sign up for 1991 the remainder of 1990 will be included for free. The frequent players club will include: Private Locker and use of showers Preferential Tee Times Pro Shop Discounts USGA Handicap Players Tournaments This is a frequent players club, NOT a country club, so golfing fees are additional. To me the $750 is pretty steep. The last time I stopped by was in early April. At that time the Clubhouse exterior was complete. Most of the holes were layed out and the grass was coming in. The new course in Townsend Ma. really has opened ! The course is called Townsend Ridge. I haven't been out to see it yet but what I've heard is that it's 18 holes, $24 weekdays, $30 weekends. The grand opening was earlier this week. Have no idea of conditions or amenities. Randy | |||||
