I've heard about it and am interested. However the $100 is
pretty steep. I figured someone will subscribe. Let us know
how you like it. Maybe I will change my mind.

843.2 | My thoughts | SA1794::WELLSPEAK | You better bow your head... | Thu Jan 11 1990 07:56 | 15 |
| I too have heard of it, and even received a membership offer
in the mail. But for $99.95, it's to steep for me. I can get all
the video instruction I need, every weekend just watching golf on
Television. You just watch the pros and listen to the commentators.
Most times, they even have a 2 minute section, where some touring
pro, gives a tip, both verbally and with a demonstration, of one
of the many problems that face the average golfer. I also get ESPN
for free from my cable company, and they have thise week in the
PGA, shown at least 3 different times during the week. It gives
a summary of all tour events for the past week, and also has a 2
to 5 minute tip, with demonstration, each week. That's all for
free. So I figure my $100.00 can be better spent. That doesn't
mean it isn't worth it for you.

843.3 | Split it up | DNEAST::STEVENS_JIM | | Thu Jan 11 1990 08:11 | 10 |
| I would imagine a group of say, five or six, pool their money,
order one subscription and share it...
I, too, say the add and my wife said "Don't even think about it."
But if it only cost me $15, that would be a different story. I can
hide a $15 video from her....hee-hee...

Tavo,
I also got the offer in the mail and was giving it some thought, that
is until Pat saw it...! They also offer, if you act fast, Jacks tape
on (I think it was) world famous courses a $45 value for free...
Do let us know what you think of your first tape...

843.5 | Can it be Copied??? | FINALY::SCHNEIHC | Hal Schneider-Something's Fishy | Thu Jan 11 1990 11:17 | 12 |
| Jack must have bought a mailing list from all the golf magazines and
the USGA, because everybody that I know who's into golf has received
this offer in the mail.
I agree with one of the previous replies about pooling money and
sharing the tapes. OR, I wonder (although I doubt it) if the tape can
be copied (not for profit you understand).
I couldn't justify the cost considering what I already spend on this
hobby!!!

843.6 | Hope I'm wrong, but... | DSSDEV::ARMSTRONG | | Thu Jan 11 1990 13:58 | 12 |
| I saw an ad for this on TV (I think it was the same offer). Some
of the clips they showed looked like stuff I had seen on other
tapes. In particular, I saw a clip from a Trevino "instructional"
tape. I had seen this tape and personally thought it was terrible
as instructional tapes go.
This left me with the impression that what you might be getting for
$100 is a collection of things that are already available.
Did anybody else see the TV ad? Is it the same package?

843.8 | Refund just in case | DUGGAN::DIAZ | Octavio @GSB | Thu Jan 11 1990 18:22 | 6 |
| Well, I still think is worth the money. If it isn't, there is the
chance of cancelling the subscription with refund.
In any case I'll let you know.

843.9 | FIRST ISSUE CONTENTS | DUGGAN::DIAZ | Octavio @GSB | Wed Feb 07 1990 17:02 | 54 |
| I received my first issue of WWofG, together with the other tape (The
best 18 holes...) and for all of you non-believers on a good thing when
you see one (Yes, I am justifying spending $99.95!! :-) ), here is the
contents of the first issue, which I definitely think is worth the money:
State of the Art: The Grip. First of a 12-part instruction series.
This one has instructions from Nicklaus, Norman, Bobby Jones and Judy
Rankin. Some of it is from the tapes previously available some is
new, but Steve Melnyk provides commentaries about each different
section.
Winning Techniques, by Tom Kite. i.e. How he won at Nabisco.
Destination: Spanish Bay. A complete look at the newest course on
the Monterey peninsula
Jack Nicklaus remembers: a tour anecdote
Using the Rules: Winter Rules
Tools for the Trade: What's new for the 90's (by the USGA (or PGA?)
technical director. A look at shafts, forged back cavity, Ultra
irons, etc.
An Interview with Sam Snead (He says he is considering an eye
operation, and if it works, he may go and give a try at the seniors
tour)
Insight: The choke factor with Tom Boswell
Profile: An insiderr look at Curtis Strange
My shot: Commentary by Jack Whitaker
David and the Goliaths: Bobby Jones
Stroke Savers: COmmentaries by teaching professionals: wet sand
shot by a club pro, and shot that normally would require standing
inside a bunker with the ball outside and about 2 feet above the feet
by Chi CHi Rodriguez (He shots it from the other side of the ball and
his back towards the pin)
IS the Tour distorted by the Nabisco Money? (Jack says yes,
obviously Kite says no.
I hope is not only because it was the first issue, but it was loaded with
good articles, instruction, reviews of courses and equipment and many
other things.
Soooo.... I am happy for the time being and hope that future issues are
as good.
