827.0. "Whirlaway wants to make bucks" by DSTEG1::SOUZA (Just say "NO" to Decaf) Thu Dec 07 1989 13:10

Well, I was bond an determined to improve on the swing I have over the
the winter. A key element of this I though was going to be hitting
balls into the "indoor driving range" (ie nets) at whirlaway. Well,
today I went down there at lunch to hit a few and was surprised to find
that the price to hit into the nets was $5 a half hour. In a half hour I
am just able to hit one large buckets worth of balls. The price to
hit the balls out sidewould be $4, and they don't even have to pickup
or distribute the balls. A that price, I probably won't be making as
many stops there over the winter as I hoped. Does anybody know of
any place else that has a driving net, hopefully cheaper then five
    bucks a half.

    Just an opinion...

I set my game back months last winter by hitting off mats indoors...
you really can't tell a good shot indoors and it gave me some bad
    habits.

    re. -1

I hit off mats in the winter, in my garage and at Mike Dichard's Golf
USA and I feel that I can tell a good shot vs. a bad shot by the feel I
get (of course I use a forged blade) and also where the ball hits off
    the net. It's helps me.

btw - Golf USA is in South Nashua but I havn't been there this year
    yet.

Pardon my ignorance but where is Whirlaway? I'm looking for some place to hit
balls occassionally so my swing is still in reasonable shape for our vacation
to Hawaii in February.
