807.0. "Of Ft. Walton and downhill lies...." by CSCOAC::CONWAY_J (life's too important to take seriously) Tue Nov 07 1989 10:54
My wife and I took a long weekend and went to Fort Walton Fla. My
father-in-law has a house there so accomodations were free. But the
point of this is to let ya'all know that if you are looking for a
bargain golf holiday this winter, keep Ft. Walton in mind. All of the
motels and condo's are running specials (after 1 january this changes,
so before xmas is your best bet) the restaurants are giving food away
(had some great amberjack saturday night with a baked po, salad and a
veggie for 5.95) and there are at least 10 golf courses within a
fifteen minute ride of the beach. And San Destin is just down the road.
I played at Ft. Walton municipal twice, its $7.00 for all day! Then
there is Shalimar point, the Pelican Bay club, Hidden Creek, San Destin
Resort (two courses) Blue Water Bay........lots a golf guys, I had a
ball!
P.S.
Had some real problems with severe downhill lies this weekend, you know
the kind, ball below both feet? Every time I had to play this shot, I
would push the ball about 30 yards right of the intended target area.
Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

| There are several reasons why a ball slices when you play it from
below the level of your feet and hooks when played above the
feet. You have to correct for these shots a little by body
alignment and clubface alignment. Just remember that the ball
is going to move some and go with it !!

807.4 | I'll Second the motion for Ft. Walton | MADCAP::LOMBARDI | | Tue Nov 21 1989 14:27 | 8 |
| I played my first round of golf ever this past spring at Ft. Walton
Municipal and didn't do too bad for a beginner. I'll second the motion
for some great, cheap golf in that area. My brother in-law lives in
Ft Walton so we too get free accomodations every spring - we're going
back this year and will hopefully try out some of the other courses -
Indian something in Destin looked really good!
