738.0. "1989 Club Championships" by MLTVAX::ARMSTRONG () Mon Aug 28 1989 14:15

I searched for but didn't find a category like this one yet
in this conference. With Club Championships in full swing around
this time of year, I was wondering how many of you fellow noters
    have won your Club Championship.

Yesterday, I won mine! While I don't play in the Championship
Flight and I don't play at a very big course, it still feels
GREAT to be the winner, especially after having won four matches
    to get there.

So how about it? How many other Club Champs are out there?

    	Won mine.....

That is B grade club championship over three grooling days

of stroke, first day 50kph winds, second day same winds greens

were scarified, third day no wind but god forsake me they cored

the greens. I think my three round score was 271 horendous, thats

what the pro's get for four rounds, to win I must have been the

only B grader not to spit my dummy. Oh and the first round included

three 10's. I don't feel I deserve it but it was the best score.

won first flight after 21 holes.....shot myself out of championship
flight on qualifying day with an 82...the won first match with 74...
second match with 76...and last match went 21 holes with neither
of us scoring very well but fantastic finish...he had 77 me 78 but
the best part was all even on 17th tee...I lip out a 20 footer and
he sinks a 10 footer for bird and 1 up going to 18...on 18 I sink
a 12 footer for bird and extra holes....needless to say the extra
holes were bucthered by both of us and I won on the 21'st with a
boogie but I'll take it...rather be lucky than good...

Seems as if a certain Bush won his club championship in 1948 and
he still uses that area for his vacations.
I caddied for five(5) consecutive club champions at my old Southern
Ohio course, but was never able to beat Billie Voris for my own
win(now Pastor William Voris and still a solid 5!).

I've played in 5 club championships (never in the big one). Won 2 at Oak
Hill Country Club in Fitchburg Mass and finished second in 2 at Burlington
Country Club here in Vermont. All the tournaments were stroke play and I
really enjoyed playing except for last year. High winds, heavy rains and
the winner in our flight shot 72,71,73. Me? I never had so many double digit
scores one one card in my life. The wind kept blowing tee shot after tee shot
out of bounds (Of course I hit them in that direction in the first place)
This year I'm going on vacation.

I suspect I frequently spit my dummy! Would you explain this phrase
    please?

    Thanks,
